PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Corbett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake The (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corbett kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is .... These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nathan Corbett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jake The!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Corbett fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging The to the ground. Corbett is now in The's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Corbett gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The controls Corbett momentarily but Corbett frees himself.

The is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Corbett is aware though and is defending well.
The can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Corbett controls the pace.

The wants to hold on but Corbett pushes him away.
The sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Corbett seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but The does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

We're going to have a standup here because Nathan Corbett wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
The feints and then cracks Corbett's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Corbett down.
The jabs Corbett right on the nose. Corbett blinks but takes it well.
The fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Corbett has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

The tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Corbett manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Corbett takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Corbett misses with a hook. The ducked under it nicely.

The looks for the body kick but Corbett saw that one coming.
The lands with a good body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Corbett swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
The throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Jake The seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Corbett misses with a takedown attempt - The sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from The lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Corbett has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Corbett and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
