Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Jaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jaa comes to the cage accompanied by Anna Molly by Incubus. The crowd seem to be enjoying Stevenson's choice of entrance music: Higher Ground - Red Hot Chili Peppers. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Joseph Stevenson!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jaa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jaa throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Jaa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Stevenson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Stevenson drives through with a takedown into guard.
Stevenson preventing the sweep.
Stevenson is looking to stand up but Jaa won't let him.

Stevenson stands up from Jaa's guard - Stevenson perhaps looking for a knockout.
Stevenson takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Stevenson blocks a head kick by Jaa.
Stevenson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jaa.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jaa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stevenson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Jaa is looking to chop away at Stevenson's legs.
Tony Jaa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stevenson dodges the punch combination from Jaa.
Stevenson shoots in for a double leg but Jaa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Stevenson wants to take the fight to the mat but Jaa manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Jaa lands an elbow inside that Stevenson shrugs off.
Jaa gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Stevenson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jaa just stands there and leans against the cage.
Stevenson misses with a punch to the body.
Jaa lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Stevenson or not.

Jaa manages to break the clinch.
Stevenson shoots and misses
and Jaa counters with a nice body kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jaa lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Jaa fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Stevenson.
Stevenson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Jaa drives through and clinches with Stevenson against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Jaa dominated that round.
That's time! Jaa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Jaa throws a shot to the body.
Stevenson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jaa sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jaa's corner calls for a 1-2. Jaa obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Stevenson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Stevenson dives in and grabs Jaa's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jaa pushes down on Stevenson's head and hops out.
Jaa buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Jaa tries a head kick but it misses.
Jaa throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jaa bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Stevenson's head backwards.
Jaa lands with a shot to the body.
Stevenson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jaa scores with a punch to the head.
Jaa connects with an inside leg kick.
Jaa pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Stevenson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Jaa can pounce on him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jaa slaps away a takedown attempt from Stevenson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Tony Jaa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joseph Stevenson.
Jaa scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Stevenson doesn't seem bothered though.

Jaa thows a body shot but no joy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stevenson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Jaa tries for a kimura but Stevenson is defending well.
Stevenson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Stevenson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Stevenson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stevenson lands in his opponent's guard.
Stevenson tries to stand but Jaa is controlling from the bottom.

Jaa has Stevenson pulled in close to control his posture.
Jaa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tony Jaa wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Stevenson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jaa but Jaa pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Jaa scores with a kick to the midsection.
Jaa lands a head kick. Stevenson smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Jaa darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Jaa misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jaa bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Jaa buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Stevenson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Stevenson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stevenson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jaa is fending him off so far but Stevenson persists. Nope, Jaa circles away and we're back to standing.
Jaa scores with a kick to the midsection.
Stevenson on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Stevenson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jaa but Jaa pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Nice straight punches there by Jaa. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Jaa.

Stevenson jumps guard but Jaa stands there with Stevenson around his waist. Stevenson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Tony Jaa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Stevenson goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Stevenson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jaa fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Joseph Stevenson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Stevenson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jaa on his heels. He'll look to pass Jaa's guard now, I'm sure.

Stevenson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jaa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
