The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gomez drives through and clinches with Marcello against the ropes.
Gomez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Gomez is trying to break free.
Marcello changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gomez fights it off and pushes away nicely.
A slow jab from Marcello misses its intended target.
Gomez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Marcello tries to avoid it but Gomez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Marcello to the ground. Marcello escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Marcello loads up on a big right hand but Gomez slips the punch.
Gomez gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Marcello.
Marcello circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gomez needs to keep his hands up - Marcello had a free shot at his head there.

Marcello uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Gomez throws a shot from downtown. Marcello moves away and avoids it.
Gomez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Marcello swats away the attempt to clinch by Gomez.
Marcello misses with a few strikes there.

Gomez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Marcello avoids it really well and circles away.
Dominick Marcello has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Gomez.
Marcello is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gomez.
Gomez wants to clinch.
Marcello darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Gomez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Marcello but Marcello pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Marcello displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gomez.
Gomez takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Gomez drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Marcello smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Marcello is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nice sprawl there from Marcello as Gomez shoots in.
Marcello cracks Gomez with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Gomez is trying desperately to land a takedown but Marcello is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Gomez.

Marcello dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Dominick Marcello is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Marcello lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gomez backs up against the ropes.
Gomez takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Gomez gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Marcello gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Gomez is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
