PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Solomon Burke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pain Statement (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burke comes into the arena with Highway Star-Deep Purple blaring out of the sound system. Statement has chosen Statement of Pain as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Solomon Burke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pain Statement!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burke doesn't manage to clinch there - Statement circles away.
Statement takes a swing at Burke's ribcage but misses.
Statement ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Burke pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Burke lands a nice shot to the body.
Pain Statement seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Statement avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Burke feints and as Statement raises his hands in defense, Burke changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Statement is wriggling around but Burke manages to pass to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Statement pushes Burke off looking to stand but Burke dives back in and keeps control.
Statement is refusing to be controlled, as Burke sits in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burke looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Burke is looking for a kimura here.
Statement is trying to stand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Burke is looking to take a break and control but Statement is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Burke is looking to advance position but Statement won't allow it.
Statement pushes Burke off looking to stand but Burke dives back in and keeps control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Statement looks to land a left hand but Burke moved out of range nicely.
Statement scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Burke doesn't seem bothered though.
Statement connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Statement thuds his right hand into Burke's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Statement bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Sloppy strikes from Statement. Those never looked like landing.
Burke takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Statement takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Burke has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Statement finds it's way round the side to connect with Burke's head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Burke tries to clinch but Statement is having none of it.
Statement throws a right and a left that Burke avoids nicely.

Statement drops Burke with a beautiful combination! Burke stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Statement is looking for the KO!

Statement lands a big uppercut and Burke crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Burke looks OK. Statement waves Burke back to his feet!


Burke is rocked!
A jab from Statement misses.
Oh Burke is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Burke fails in his attempt to clinch.
Burke seems to have got his legs back now.
Statement misses with a double jab.
Burke moves forwards but Statement connects with a nice, crisp jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Statement listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Burke uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Statement.
Statement punishes Burke's body with a nice straight punch.
Burke throws a low kick but Statement moves out of range easily.
Burke slips a jab and a cross from Statement.
Statement stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Statement ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Burke is breathing heavily.
Statement lands with a nice body punch.
Statement comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Burke takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Statement connects with a jab.
Statement scores with a nice right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pain Statement dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Statement lands a big right hand that sends Burke crashing to the mat! Statement stays standing though and waves Burke back to his feet!
Statement throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Burke sees it coming and avoids it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Burke fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Statement manages to avoid it.
Nice defenses there by Burke.
Pain Statement seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Burke keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Burke is looking to clinch.
Statement misses with a wild combination.
Statement tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Burke was well out of range. Poor timing from Statement.
Statement misses the shot to the body.
Statement avoids the body shot from Burke.
A shot to the body from Burke misses
and Statement connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Statement swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Statement scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Burke on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Pain Statement is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Statement scores with a crisp jab that stopped Burke in his tracks.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Are you kidding me?! Statement ducked down and unloaded an uppercut from hell that sent Burke clean off his feet! Someone make me a GIF - that's knockout of the night for sure!
