The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maldini shoots in but Freire avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Maldini has his takedown stuffed
and Freire counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Freire.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Maldini had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Freire defends it easily.
Freire wants to pass the guard but Maldini is keeping the position.

Freire postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Maldini badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Freire around the waist but Freire pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Freire is the winner by TKO! Freire jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
