Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mohamed Bashir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dante West!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bashir gets the takedown into side control.
Bashir is trying to get an arm triangle but West is defending well.
West is trying to get back to half guard.
Bashir tries for a kimura but West is defending well.
Bashir is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. West knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Bashir wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by West, who protects the arm well.
Bashir lands a few punches from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bashir scores with a couple of short elbows.
Bashir tries to move to mount but West blocks the move with his legs.
West really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bashir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bashir is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. West knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
West manages to get back to half guard.
Bashir seems to be looking for submissions.
Bashir lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Bashir tries to pass to full mount but West defends it.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bashir works his way into full mount!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bashir working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Bashir with the ground and pound from mount.
Bashir goes for an armbar but West turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from West.
West looking to sit in guard and control but Bashir gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bashir slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
West prevents Bashir from moving into mount.
West tries to escape but Bashir is in control.
West looks gassed!
Bashir working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Bashir thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Bashir has hold of West's arm. He's looking for a kimura. West seems comfortable defending it but Bashir has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! West is real pain and he's forced to tap out! West is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Bashir couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mohamed Bashir!
