PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Drew Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aang Avatar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Avatar has chosen An Epic as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Drew Jordan has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Drew Jordan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aang Avatar!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avatar is looking to clinch but Jordan is avoiding it.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Avatar.
Avatar walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Avatar shoots in for a double leg but Jordan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jordan takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Avatar fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A combination from Jordan does no damage.
Avatar shoots in for a takedown but Jordan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Drew Jordan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aang Avatar.

Avatar shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Jordan pushes Avatar off looking to stand but Avatar dives back in and keeps control.

Avatar stands up from half guard.
Jordan connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Avatar fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Avatar gets the takedown into side control.
Jordan is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Avatar stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Avatar takes one to the side of the head.
Aang Avatar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Avatar tries for a takedown but Jordan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jordan tests Avatar's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Avatar has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Jordan finds it's way round the side to connect with Avatar's head.

Avatar closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jordan did well to prevent Avatar getting side control.
Jordan is trying to stand.

Avatar gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Avatar fails with the takedown.
Avatar walks into a stiff left hand from Jordan.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jordan tests Avatar's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Avatar has managed to clinch.
Jordan is trying to break free.
Avatar is working for takedown but Jordan is calmly controlling the position for now.

Jordan wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Avatar breaks from the clinch.
Jordan moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

and Jordan counters with a left to the body.
Jordan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jordan throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Avatar counters with a head kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Avatar tries to clinch but Jordan moves away
and Jordan counters with a right hand to the body.
Avatar on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Jordan fails to land with a series of punches.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Avatar misses with an uppercut.
Jordan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jordan throws a body punch but Avatar moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Drew Jordan will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

Jordan throws a series of punches but Avatar avoids them all with ease.
Jordan's corner calls for a 1-2. Jordan obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Jordan goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Jordan is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
A telegraphed right hand from Avatar misses the target.
Drew Jordan is winning the standup battle so far.
Jordan looks to land a combination but Avatar avoids it well.
Avatar tries to clinch there but Jordan circles away.
Jordan misses with a combination
and Avatar counters with a head kick.
Jordan is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Avatar fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Avatar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jordan but Jordan pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Avatar drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Jordan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Avatar.
A left lands for Jordan.
Horrible takedown by Avatar or perhaps it was just good defense by Jordan which made him look bad.
Drew Jordan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aang Avatar.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jordan. Avatar does a little dance to reset his feet.
Jordan swings for the body but Avatar moves out of range.
Jordan scores with a nice strike.
Jordan throws a right and a left that Avatar avoids nicely.

Avatar feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Avatar stops Jordan from standing up.
Jordan working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Avatar.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jordan is looking to stand up but Avatar isn't so interested in that idea.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Avatar stands up and waves to Jordan to follow him.

Avatar moves into the clinch.
Jordan is trying to force a seperation but Avatar has the dominant position.
Jordan is trying to break free.
Avatar has Jordan pressed against the cage, preventing Jordan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Avatar tries for a takedown. No joy.
Avatar tries to pull guard but Jordan won't allow it.

Avatar breaks the clinch.
Avatar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jordan as he avoids it easily.
Avatar throws a series of punches but Jordan moves out of range.
Avatar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jordan scores with the left hand. Avatar knows he should have avoided that one.
No joy there for Jordan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jordan fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Avatar on the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Avatar shoots in for a double leg but Jordan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Avatar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jordan scores with a one two! Avatar had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


Avatar is rocked!


It looks like Aang Avatar has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Avatar walks straight into a right hand from Jordan - that's dropped him! Jordan jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Avatar from any more punishment! Avatar complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Drew Jordan!
Drew Jordan took his opportunity to call for a title shot in his post fight interview.
