PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Finn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chico Mulato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mulato comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Run to hills kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chico Mulato!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Finn shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mulato as he avoids it easily.

Finn scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Finn is pressing down on Mulato's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mulato is holding on for now.

Finn looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mulato with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mulato has one foot on Finn's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Finn tries to pass to full mount but Mulato defends it.
Finn with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Mulato has hold of Finn's hands but Finn slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Mulato defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Finn.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Mulato checks a leg kick.
Finn throws a push kick but Mulato slaps the foot to one side.
Finn tries for a takedown but Mulato sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Finn tries to clinch up.
Mulato buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Finn fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mulato sprawls well initially but Finn persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mulato wants to control but Finn is keeping busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Finn has closed the distance and engaged Mulato in a clinch.
Finn tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mulato smiles and moves away.
Mulato slaps away a takedown attempt from Finn, before circling back to the center of the mat.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Don Finn wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Finn moves into the clinch successfully.
Finn is pressed up against the cage. Mulato has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Finn down to the mat. Finn avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Finn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mulato's waist but Mulato gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Finn off to one side.
Finn shoots in for a takedown but Mulato shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Finn fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mulato avoids it really well and circles away.
Mulato tries to close the distance and clinch but Finn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Finn throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Mulato lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Finn circles away quickly and effectively.
Chico Mulato seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Finn misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mulato on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Mulato postures up in Finn's guard and throws a big left but Finn blocks it.

Finn lands a good elbow from the bottom.

Finn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mulato gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mulato has gone for a leg lock! Finn slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mulato's guard.

Mulato isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Finn stacks Mulato on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Finn!

Finn is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Mulato looks calm but he's in trouble here. Finn gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Mulato is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Finn lets go of the hold and Mulato can pop his arm back in it's socket.
