PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between AK Forty Seven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Lowrey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Forty Seven is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Mike Lowrey told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Forty Seven takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Mike Lowrey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Forty Seven is breathing heavily.
Forty Seven slaps away a takedown attempt from Lowrey, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Forty Seven tries to clinch up but Lowrey circles away and keeps his distance.
Lowrey fails with the takedown

and Forty Seven counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Forty Seven.

Forty Seven gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Lowrey has Forty Seven pulled in close to control his posture.

Forty Seven has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Lowrey is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Forty Seven is aware though and is defending well.
Lowrey is trying to control the position but Forty Seven postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mike Lowrey was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Lowrey fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Forty Seven manages to avoid it.

Lowrey fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Forty Seven sprawls well initially but Lowrey persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Lowrey is working for a kimura but Forty Seven is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lowrey looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lowrey is trying to control the action in half guard but Forty Seven is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Lowrey wants to control but Forty Seven is keeping him busy.

Lowrey is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Forty Seven sees it coming and defends easily.
Forty Seven is staying active underneath Lowrey, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Lowrey might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Forty Seven kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Lowrey seems to be looking for submissions.

Lowrey is looking for a kimura but Forty Seven is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lowrey to get the leverage.

Lowrey is looking to advance position but Forty Seven won't allow it.

Lowrey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Forty Seven sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lowrey somewhat.

Forty Seven closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lowrey's guard.
Lowrey is controlling Forty Seven's posture.

Forty Seven is sitting in close to Lowrey's body. Lowrey has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Forty Seven is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Forty Seven is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Lowrey.
