Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Monzer Al Kassar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Silva Santiago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Monzer Al Kassar has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Monzer Al Kassar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Silva Santiago!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Santiago closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Al Kassar's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Santiago trying to control the position from guard on top but Al Kassar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Al Kassar is trying to keep Santiago in close.
Al Kassar wants to stand and escape but Santiago is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Santiago postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Al Kassar is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Santiago, into his guard.
Al Kassar would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Santiago looking for a guillotine here but Al Kassar defends easily.
Al Kassar has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Santiago has a closed guard, preventing Al Kassar from standing up.
Al Kassar is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Al Kassar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Santiago on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Al Kassar would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Al Kassar trying to control but Santiago is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Monzer Al Kassar.
Santiago with a poor takedown
and Al Kassar counters with a slapping leg kick.

and Al Kassar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Al Kassar looks to land a combination. Santiago sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Silva Santiago has been cut.
Santiago fails with the takedown.
Monzer Al Kassar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Silva Santiago.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Al Kassar throws a quick inside leg kick.
Santiago looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Al Kassar dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Al Kassar connects with a single shot there.
Al Kassar defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Santiago.
Al Kassar with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Santiago looks gassed!
Al Kassar keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Al Kassar throws a head kick that half lands.
Santiago shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Al Kassar defends it nicely.
Both fighters circling a little - Al Kassar finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Santiago takes a jab right on the kisser.
Santiago tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Al Kassar swivels and escapes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Al Kassar scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Santiago doesn't seem bothered though.
Al Kassar lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Al Kassar connects with a good right hand that stumbles Santiago. Santiago circles away out of range and recomposes himself.


Santiago is rocked!
Santiago is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Al Kassar doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Santiago crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Santiago's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Monzer Al Kassar!
Monzer Al Kassar decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
