PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kaarlo Volkano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kasim Akande (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Volkano comes into the arena with Graveyard - Hisingen Blues blaring out of the sound system. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kaarlo Volkano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kasim Akande!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akande is looking to chop away at Volkano's legs.
Volkano works the jab nicely.

It looks like Kasim Akande has been cut.
Akande shoots in but no luck this time.
Akande swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kasim Akande seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A solid leg kick lands there for Volkano.
Akande throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Akande is looking to slow Volkano down with leg kicks.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Akande chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Volkano can pounce on him.

Volkano feints and as Akande raises his hands in defense, Volkano changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Akande is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Akande working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Volkano doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Volkano manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Akande lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Volkano has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Volkano and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Akande sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Volkano's guard.
