PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Dyrdek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frankie Edgar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rob Dyrdek!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edgar will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Dyrdek feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dyrdek is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Edgar sees it coming and defends easily.

Dyrdek is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Edgar's shoulder. That is not cool.

Dyrdek is looking to take a break and control but Edgar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dyrdek is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Edgar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dyrdek on the ground.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Edgar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dyrdek doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dyrdek manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Dyrdek has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Edgar is breathing heavily.

Dyrdek chips away with some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dyrdek is working Edgar over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rob Dyrdek dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Edgar throws a right and a left that both miss.
Dyrdek shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Dyrdek working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Edgar turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Dyrdek off and cradles Edgar's limp body as Dyrdek celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Rob Dyrdek!
During a confident post fight interview, Rob Dyrdek thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
