The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McBrain throws a shot to the body.
McBrain slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

It looks like Sakari Nurmi has been cut.
Nurmi misses with a low kick.
Nurmi fails with a takedown attempt.
Nurmi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nurmi moves out of range of the leg kick from McBrain.
Bruce McBrain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McBrain connects with a crisp jab.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Nurmi.
Nurmi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McBrain buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nurmi is looking to clinch.
McBrain cracks Nurmi with an open hand slap.
Nurmi swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nurmi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nurmi throws a nice looking combination but McBrain bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and McBrain counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

McBrain stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
McBrain fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
McBrain scores with a jab to the jaw.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fight stays on the outside here - Nurmi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nurmi tries to clinch but McBrain moves away
and McBrain counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Nurmi is breathing heavily.
Nurmi looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
McBrain lands with a thumping leg kick.
Nurmi takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Sakari Nurmi's cut is getting worse.
McBrain connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Nurmi on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nurmi moves forwards but McBrain connects with a nice, crisp jab.
McBrain fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Nurmi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
McBrain is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Nurmi had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
McBrain feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Nurmis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Nurmi is rocked!

Sakari Nurmi's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
McBrain lands a nice looking body shot.
Are you kidding me?! McBrain ducked down and unloaded an uppercut from hell that sent Nurmi clean off his feet! Someone make me a GIF - that's knockout of the night for sure!
