PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Trevor Condit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Ketchup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Condit comes to the cage accompanied by RAWR. The key to victory for Trevor Condit has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 18 - 0, fighting out of London, Trevor Condit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 37 - 0, fighting out of London, John Ketchup!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Phil Schofield and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ketchup fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Condit, pushing him back against the cage.
Ketchup is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Ketchup is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Condit has a couple of punches blocked by Ketchup.
Ketchup blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Ketchup as Condit tries to tie him up.
Condit throws a head punch that misses.

Ketchup's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ketchup throws a left and a right that both miss
and Condit counters with a left and a right that stings Ketchup.
Condit feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ketchups jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Ketchup looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
No joy there for Condit, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ketchup shoots in for a takedown but Condit shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Nice sprawl there from Condit as Ketchup shoots in.
Trevor Condit has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Ketchup.

Ketchup closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Ketchup jumps into guard, dragging Condit to the mat.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Ketchup keeping moving, preventing Condit from controlling successfully.
Condit wanted to stand there but Ketchup had control of the position.
Condit wants to stand and escape but instead Ketchup has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Condit keeping full guard, as Ketchup tries to pass.
Ketchup won't allow Condit to get back to his feet.
Ketchup throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Condit works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Ketchup stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Ketchup has closed the distance and engaged Condit in a clinch.
Condit wants to break free but Ketchup has control.
Condit looking to stall.
Ketchup tries to score a body lock takedown but Condit shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Condit is pressed up against the cage. Ketchup has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Condit down to the mat. Condit avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
No luck for Ketchup with that takedown attempt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ketchup throws a body kick that misses.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Ketchup breaks from the clinch.
Condit throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ketchup stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Condit fails to land with a series of punches.
A swing and a miss from Ketchup.
Ketchup shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ketchup.
Ketchup shoots for a double leg takedown but Condit sprawls well. He's pushed Ketchup's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ketchup changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Condit looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ketchup has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Condit!

Ketchup looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Ketchup stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Condit looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ketchup shoots in looking for a takedown but Condit manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ketchup's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Condit misses with a two punch combination.
Condit loads up on a big right hand but Ketchup slips the punch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ketchup looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Condit is fending him off so far but Ketchup persists. Nope, Condit circles away and we're back to standing.
Condit darts in trying to clinch

so Ketchup counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ketchup throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Condit utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Ketchup gets to his feet. Condit looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Condit lands a lovely overhand right.
Condit swinging wildly here.
Ketchup shoots in but Condit avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Trevor Condit is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ketchup drives through and clinches with Condit against the cage.

Ketchup jumps guard and drags Condit to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Ketchup pulls Condit in close to his closed guard and prevents Condit from doing any damage or advancing position.
Condit might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

John Ketchup has got the better of the ground game so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up. John Ketchup was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Condit tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ketchup was well out of range. Poor timing from Condit.
Condit avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ketchup tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ketchup misses with a takedown attempt - Condit sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Ketchup drops his hands momentarily and Condit takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Ketchup decides to stand up.
Condit stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Condit throws a hook but Ketchup blocks it.
Condit fails to land with a series of punches.
Trevor Condit is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
An inside leg kick from Ketchup misses.
Condit swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Ketchup counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Condit's guard now.

Ketchup stands and steps away. Condit gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

John Ketchup showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Ketchup shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Condit manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Condit knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ketchup on the ground.

Condit is refusing to be controlled, as Ketchup sits in half guard.
Ketchup throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Ketchup seems to be looking for submissions.

Condit has one foot on Ketchup's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Ketchup has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Condit catches Ketchup with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Ketchup tries a head kick but it misses.
Condit throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Condit displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ketchup.

Ketchup gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Ketchup takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ketchup has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Let's hope that Ketchup has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Ketchup trying to control the action but Condit is working from the bottom.

Ketchup takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Condit's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Ketchup cracks Condit with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Ketchup lands with some strikes.
Ketchup controlling from the full mount.
Condit has given up his back. Will we see Ketchup going for some submissions?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ketchup working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Condit is doing well to defend. Ketchup seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Condit is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). John Ketchup!
John Ketchup decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
