Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Morgernstern (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sammy Spishak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morgernstern comes to the cage accompanied by Anouk - Nobody's Wife . Spishak has chosen Sleeping with Sirens as his entrance music. Matt Morgernstern has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Morgernstern!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sammy Spishak!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spishak uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Morgernstern.
Spishak pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Spishak waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Morgernstern.
Spishak lands a really nice looking cross but Morgernstern seems unphased.
Morgernstern uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Spishak.
Spishak fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Morgernstern looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Morgernstern slips under a jab.
Morgernstern tries for a takedown but Spishak sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Morgernstern closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Spishak quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Morgernstern is working for a kimura but Spishak is defending it quite comfortably.
Morgernstern prevents Spishak from improving his position.
Spishak works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Spishak not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Spishak has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Morgernstern can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Morgernstern throwing strikes but missing.

Morgernstern makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Morgernstern trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Morgernstern stands and throws Spishak's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Morgernstern tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Morgernstern has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Spishak is trying to control Morgernstern's posture but Morgernstern avoids it.
Morgernstern has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

It looks like Sammy Spishak has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Spishak is trying to get back to half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Morgernstern has hold of Spishak's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Spishak seems comfortable defending it but Morgernstern has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Spishak is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Spishak is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Morgernstern couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Matt Morgernstern!
