Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Flo Tinaway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronaldo Palhares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tinaway kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Sonic Boom Six - Floating Away. Palhares is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Apaga mais não bate. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Ronaldo Palhares enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Flo Tinaway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronaldo Palhares!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tinaway misses with a takedown attempt - Palhares sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Tinaway is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Palhares throws a big shot that misses.

Tinaway throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Palhares was covering up waiting for the punch and Tinaway finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Palhares looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Tinaway wants to pass the guard but Palhares is keeping the position.

Palhares had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tinaway defends it easily.

Tinaway drops back looking for a leg! Palhares is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Palhares manages to kick Tinaway off! Tinaway jumps back into Palhares's guard.

Tinaway avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tinaway wants to control from the top but Palhares keeps moving.
Palhares is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Tinaway stays in close to Palhares's body and controls the position.
Palhares wants to sweep here but Tinaway controlling him for the moment.

We're going to have a standup here because Flo Tinaway wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and Tinaway counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Palhares's guard now.

Tinaway wants to control from the top but Palhares keeps moving.

Tinaway drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tinaway jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tinaway wants to pass the guard but Palhares is keeping the position.
Tinaway sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Palhares's guard.
Palhares is not content to let Tinaway control the position.
Palhares has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tinaway is working away from the top position though.

Tinaway wants to work for an arm triangle but Palhares is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Tinaway is working for a kimura but Palhares is defending it quite comfortably.
Palhares is refusing to be controlled, as Tinaway sits in half guard.

Palhares is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tinaway pulls his head out easily.

Tinaway is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Palhares moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tinaway trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Palhares lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Tinaway!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Palhares tries to control but Tinaway wriggling away.
Tinaway is looking to get to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Palhares throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Flo Tinaway dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Tinaway shoots in but Palhares avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Tinaway closes this distance looking for a takedown but Palhares circles away.

and Palhares counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tinaway won't be happy with that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Flo Tinaway. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Palhares tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
A lull in the action here.
Palhares advances nicely into full mount.

Palhares throws some wild stikes that Tinaway manages to avoid easily.
Palhares wants to control the pace but Tinaway is squirming around nicely.
Palhares tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Palhares moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Tinaway has worked his arm free - good work by Tinaway!
Palhares tries to score with some ground and pound. Tinaway controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Palhares has hold of Tinaway's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Tinaway tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Palhares cranks the arm and Tinaway screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Tinaway, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Ronaldo Palhares!
