PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Condor Axe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cedric Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steele is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ironman. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Condor Axe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Cedric Steele!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steele throws a big shot that misses.
Axe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Steele's waist but Steele gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Axe off to one side.

Steele tries to sprawl but Axe drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Steele manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Axe has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Axe wants to control from the top but Steele keeps moving.
Axe is looking to advance position but Steele has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Axe stops Steele from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Steele wants to control the pace but Axe is squirming around nicely.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Steele is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steele unloads with some shots from mount but Axe bucks and avoids them well.
Steele can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Axe is looking to escape.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Steele tries to control but Axe wriggling away.
Steele might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Axe kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Cedric Steele.
A jab lands there for Axe.

Axe fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Steele to the ground. Axe is now in Steele's guard.
Axe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Steele on the ground.

Steele had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Axe defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cedric Steele dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Axe tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Axe closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Steele wants to sweep here but Axe controlling him for the moment.

Steele working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Axe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Steele is tightening it up a little... Axe has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Axe reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Axe taps out! Nice BJJ there by Steele!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Cedric Steele!
