Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santana comes to the cage accompanied by Duke NukemTheme. Alves has chosen Dirt on your shoulders as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santana blocks a head kick by Alves.

Santana shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Alves napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Santana is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Alves can't fight it off and eventually Santana manages to take the fight to the floor. Alves looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Santana seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Santana seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Alves for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
