Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Al Rounder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Short (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Al Rounder could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jake Short's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Al Rounder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Short!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rounder misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Short counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rounder tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Short trying to control the position from guard on top but Rounder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Short postures up.
Short is pushing down on Rounder's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rounder is fighting to maintain full guard but Short has managed to sneak the leg through.
Rounder tries to roll over but Short keeps him under control.
Rounder has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Short is working away from the top position though.
Rounder wants to improve his position but Short is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rounder pushes Short off and gets back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rounder looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rounder tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rounder tries to clinch but Short moves away

and Short counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Short stands up and waves to Rounder to follow him.

Rounder gets a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Short tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rounder just stands there and leans against the cage.

Rounder manages to break the clinch.
A punch combination from Rounder misses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rounder tries to close the distance and clinch but Short swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rounder wants to clinch but Short slips to the side

and Short counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rounder is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rounder tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Short tries to keep at a distance but Rounder has taken the fight into the clinch.
Short tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Rounder breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

so Short counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rounder keeping moving, preventing Short from controlling successfully.
Rounder trying to control the position.
Short wants to control from the top but Rounder keeps moving.

Rounder is looking for a triangle but Short pushes his legs off easily.

Rounder is trying to keep Short in close.
Rounder is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Rounder looking to hit a scissor sweep but Short is one step ahead there.
Rounder is trying to control the position but Short postures up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Short misses with a takedown attempt
and Rounder counters with a right hand to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Short dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Rounder is looking to clinch but Short is avoiding it.
Short with a lazy takedown attempt
and Rounder counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Rounder clinches.
Short tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Short misses with a punch to the body.
Rounder has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Rounder is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Rounder manages to break the clinch.
Al Rounder is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Short shoots for a takedown but Rounder saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Al Rounder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Short.
Short circles away from the clinch attempt.

Rounder lands a big head kick that sends Short tumbling to the mat! Rounder takes a step backwards and waves Short back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Jake Short has been cut.

Al Rounder is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice takedown defense from Rounder. No joy for Short on that attempt.
Rounder tries to close the distance and clinch up but Short swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Short on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Short counters with a shoot takedown. Rounder fights it but they end up in guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rounder is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Rounder looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rounder looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rounder manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rounder lands a heavy elbow.

Rounder swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
