PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cameron St John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). St John comes to the cage accompanied by Wherever I May Roam. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Phil Schofield and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter misses with a takedown attempt

and St John counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Hunter looking for a sweep. Not yet Hunter, not yet.
St John landing with the ground and pound.
Hunter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
St John engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hunter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. St John gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
St John passes easily into side control. Nice work.
St John is chipping away with strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
St John is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hunter's shoulder. That is not cool.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunter tries to buck St John off but St John is having none of it.

St John decides to stand back up.
Hunter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but St John paws at him with a jab and circles away.
St John keeps the fight on the outside.
St John misses with a hook to the body
and Hunter counters with a nice uppercut.
Hunter throws a head kick but St John moves out of range.
Hunter throws a lazy head kick

and St John counters by moving into the clinch.

St John manages to break the clinch.

St John closes the distance and clinches.
Hunter tries to break the clinch but St John is controlling the position.

St John breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cameron St John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

St John shoots in and bounces Hunter off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
St John landing with the ground and pound.
Hunter looks gassed!

St John controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
St John with a nice head shot there.
Hunter tries to land a sweep but no joy.
St John makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

St John distracts Hunter with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

St John drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and St John jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
St John stops Hunter from standing up.

St John swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hunter.

St John shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Hunter has momentary wrist control but St John slips an elbow through the middle.
St John's corner is telling him to maintain position.
St John is working Hunter over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
St John passes into half guard.
St John is controlling the pace.
Hunter is trying to maintain the position but St John is very close to passing his half guard.

Hunter on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

St John is looking for a kimura but Hunter is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for St John to get the leverage.
St John passes to full mount!
Hunter is desperately trying to improve his position but St John has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

St John is working for a guillotine from mount but Hunter frees his head quite easily.
St John punishing his opponent with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cameron St John dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



St John is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hunter's half guard.
St John takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hunter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
St John scoring with strikes to the body and head.
St John not doing much here.
Hunter looks like he's trying to stand up.
St John slows the pace down in half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Hunter trying to control but St John postures up.

St John content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Cameron St John just wasn't active enough.

Hunter tries to keep at a distance but St John has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hunter is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

St John gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Hunter is breathing heavily.

Hunter tries to kick St John off but St John keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
St John is controlling the pace.
St John lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hunter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. St John is working away from the top position though.

Hunter wants to improve his position but St John is controlling well.
St John sitting and controlling from the half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cameron St John wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Hunter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
St John working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hunter's head.

St John gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A lull in the action here as St John stalls from top position.
St John grinds an elbow into Hunter's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cameron St John dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



St John shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. St John showed some decent athleticism there.
St John passes to full mount!
Hunter really wants to buck St John off and get back to his feet.
St John is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hunter can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Hunter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hunter is working to get back to half guard.
St John cracks Hunter with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
St John tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

St John has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hunter's face.


Hunter is rocked!
St John postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Hunter bigstyle! Two more strikes land for St John and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cameron St John!
Cameron St John decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
