PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Storm Tower (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarmo Pajumaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pajumaki has chosen Rage Against the Machine - Bombtrack as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Storm Tower!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jarmo Pajumaki!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pajumaki shoots in and drives through. Tower sprawls well.

Tower fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pajumaki, pushing him back against the ropes.
Tower misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Tower misses with a short punch on the inside.
Pajumaki is working for takedown but Tower is calmly controlling the position for now.
Pajumaki is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Tower gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Storm Tower has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jarmo Pajumaki.
Tower misses with some punches.
Tower softening up his opponent with strikes, against the ropes.
Tower works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Tower.
A shot in the inside from Tower.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Pajumaki.
Pajumaki blocking some punches.
Tower misses with a punch on the inside.
Tower lands a shot to the body.
Pajumaki looks gassed!
Tower changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pajumaki fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Tower throws a body punch but Pajumaki moves out of range.

Tower feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Tower looking to sit in guard and control but Pajumaki gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Pajumaki avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Tower working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pajumaki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pajumaki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Tower wants to sweep but no luck.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Tower is striking but Pajumaki is not phased and passes to half guard.
Tower is staying active underneath Pajumaki, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Tower wants to improve his position but Pajumaki is controlling well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pajumaki drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Tower wants to sweep here but Pajumaki controlling him for the moment.
Tower is trying to control the position but Pajumaki postures up.

Tower is looking for a triangle here but Pajumaki uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Tower is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pajumaki's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Pajumaki is thwarting Tower's attempts to control the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tower is trying to get back to full guard.
Pajumaki scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Pajumaki prevents Tower from improving his position.
Tower slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Tower is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Tower is striking from the bottom but Pajumaki uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Storm Tower dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Tower thows a left - swing and a miss!

Tower closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Tower misses with the head strike.
Tower tries to work over Pajumaki's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Pajumaki blocks an uppercut.
Tower throws a head punch that misses.

Tower gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Pajumaki throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Tower postures up.
Pajumaki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Tower keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pajumaki's head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tower advances position into side control!
Pajumaki is looking to reverse the position.
Tower misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Tower cracks Pajumaki with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Pajumaki struggling a bit here.
Pajumaki tries to buck Tower off but Tower is having none of it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tower wants to control but Pajumaki is keeping him busy.

Tower tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tower has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Pajumaki can't do much from the bottom here.
Pajumaki is trying to get back to half guard.
Pajumaki manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Pajumaki gets back to full guard.

Pajumaki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Tower wants to pass the guard but Pajumaki is keeping the position.
Pajumaki trying to keep a closed guard but Tower is proving a slippery customer.

Tower postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pajumaki is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Tower, into his guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Pajumaki controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Pajumaki must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

and Pajumaki counters with a takedown into side control.
Tower manages to get back to half guard.
Tower makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Tower.
Tower bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pajumaki's guard.
Tower stands up over Pajumaki, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Tower throws a big right hand that misses.
Pajumaki wants to sweep but no luck.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Tower wants to control from the top but Pajumaki keeps moving.
Tower content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tower throws and elbow that misses. Pajumaki uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tower's guard. Nice move by Pajumaki!
Tower looking for a sweep. Not yet Tower, not yet.
Pajumaki sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Tower's guard.
Tower wants to get back to full guard but Pajumaki has passed into side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tower is working hard here to advance position.

Tower works his way to full guard. Good work.
Pajumaki trying to control the position from guard on top but Tower is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jarmo Pajumaki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Pajumaki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Tower is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Tower looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Pajumaki passes into side control.

Jarmo Pajumaki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tower has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
