Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lance Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Lance Hawkins has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Ribeiro!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribeiro fails with a takedown attempt.

Hawkins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Ribeiro has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hawkins uses from the top position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Hawkins is nestled in close to Ribeiro, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

A close round but Matt Ribeiro will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Ribeiro shoots in but no luck this time.
Hawkins tries to bum rush Ribeiro with a series of wild strikes but Ribeiro uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Ribeiro postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hawkins is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ribeiro, into his guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ribeiro can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ribeiro pushes a forearm under Hawkins's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Hawkins is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
