PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gidian Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sandor Bodor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Stone might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Bone Thugz-"AK-47. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gidian Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sandor Bodor!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bodor misses with a takedown
and Stone counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Jab by Bodor.
Bodor throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Stone counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Stone moves out of range as Bodor throws a body kick.
Stone throws out a loose jab but Bodor uses good head movement to avoid it.
Bodor pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Stone throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Bodor decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stone's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Bodor is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Stone wants to stand but Bodor is controlling the position.
Bodor slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bodor.
Bodor missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Bodor trying to control the position from guard on top but Stone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stone can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bodor controls the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sandor Bodor wasn't active enough on the ground.
Bodor scores with a sloppy right hand. Stone should have avoided that one.
Stone throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bodor stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Stone throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Bodor looks to land a body kick but Stone moved away.
Bodor shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stone as he jumps to the side.
Bodor fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gidian Stone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sandor Bodor.
Bodor is looking to clinch.
Bodor with a poor takedown
and Stone counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Bodor thinking.
Bodor displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stone throws out the jab.

Bodor shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Stone manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Stone is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bodor slips nicely into half guard.

Bodor working over Stone with some ground and pound. Stone looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Stone is looking to escape.
Bodor trying to control the action but Stone is working from the bottom.
Stone avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bodor.
Stone taking some punishment here, with Bodor in his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bodor winds up and cracks Stone with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Bodor works his way into full mount!
Stone is in a horrible position here. Bodor smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Stone is squirming around, avoiding Bodor's attempts to control the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bodor is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Stone is surviving well by controlling Bodor's body position as best he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sandor Bodor dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Stone throws a jab when Bodor was well out of range.
Stone throws the left hand but Bodor avoids the punch easily.
Bodor tries to close the distance and clinch up but Stone swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bodor has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Stone finds it's way round the side to connect with Bodor's head.
Bodor fails with the takedown.
Bodor lets loose with a powerful body kick. Stone will feel that in the morning.
Stone swings for the body but Bodor moves out of range.
Stone moves out of range of the body kick from Bodor.
Bodor misses with a body kick.
Bodor uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Stone.

Stone bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Bodor avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Stone slips a straight right by Bodor.
Bodor moves in looking to clinch but Stone pushes him off.
Bodor goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Bodor shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stone pinned against the cage. Stone gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Bodor fails to land the takedown.
Gidian Stone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sandor Bodor.
Bodor keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Stone.
Stone throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Bodor on the side of the head.
Stone looks to score with a jab to the body but Bodor is just out of range.

Bodor looks to land a body kick but Stone moved away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Stone enables Bodor to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Stone manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Bodor might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Stone kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sandor Bodor hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Bodor takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Bodor closes the distance and clinches up with Stone, looking for a takedown. Bodor pushes Stone against the cage but Stone circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bodor tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Stone swivels and escapes.
Stone throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Stone throws a jab but it's blocked by Bodor.
Bodor shoots in for a takedown but Stone shows good takedown defense.
Bodor is breathing heavily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bodor. Stone does a little dance to reset his feet.
Sandor Bodor seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Stone misses the shot to the body.

Stone gets caught napping as Bodor dives in and scores a takedown. Stone manages to retain guard.
Stone is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bodor is controlling him.

Stone has an active guard here but Bodor has managed to pass into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bodor seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Bodor missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sandor Bodor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Bodor looks to land a body kick but Stone moved away.
A low kick from Bodor is predictable there
and Stone counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Stone lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A swing and a miss from Stone.
Sandor Bodor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stone gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bodor to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Bodor postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Bodor throws a big elbow that misses.
Stone utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Bodor trying to control but Stone is working from the bottom.
Bodor is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Stone wants to stand but Bodor is controlling the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bodor gets a double leg takedown into Stone's guard.
Bodor won't allow Stone to get back to his feet.

Bodor distracts Stone with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Bodor slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Stone seems a little lost for a moment, as Bodor dominates the positioning.
Bodor wants to control but Stone is keeping him busy.
Bodor throwing shots but missing, from side control.

Bodor is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sandor Bodor.
Stone swings widly with a right hand
and Bodor counters with a stiff right hand.
Bodor connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Sandor Bodor is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Bodor fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Stone looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Bodor has a takedown stuffed.
Bodor shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stone as he jumps to the side.
Bodor swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bodor avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Bodor tries for a takedown but Stone circles away easily
and Stone counters with a nice uppercut.
Gidian Stone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gidian Stone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sandor Bodor.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bodor throws a low kick but Stone avoids it.
Bodor fails with a takedown attempt.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Bodor, right into the meat.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sandor Bodor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bodor has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
