Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ebbe Emmanuel Ibssen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roman Yakimyuk!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ibssen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Ibssen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Yakimyuk was well out of range. Poor timing from Ibssen.
Yakimyuk lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Ibssen misses with a two punch combination.
Ibssen moves forwards but Yakimyuk connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Yakimyuk lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ibssen.

It looks like Ebbe Emmanuel Ibssen has been cut.
Ibssen throws a looping overhand right but Yakimyuk ducks down to avoid it.
Nice takedown defense from Yakimyuk. No joy for Ibssen on that attempt.

Yakimyuk lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ibssen circles away quickly and effectively.

and Yakimyuk counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ibssen shoots for a double leg takedown but Yakimyuk sprawls well. He's pushed Ibssen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ibssen is rocked!
Ibssen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Yakimyuk sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ibssen somewhat.
Yakimyuk lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ibssen at a distance.
Roman Yakimyuk is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Yakimyuk wants to stand up but Ibssen is controlling him.

Ibssen stands up from Yakimyuk's guard - Ibssen perhaps looking for a knockout.
Ibssen shoots in for a double leg but Yakimyuk sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Yakimyuk is working the combinations to good effect here.

Yakimyuk lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Yakimyuk connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Ibssen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Ibssen sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Ibssen is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Yakimyuk has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Ibssen lands with some strikes.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Ibssen has hold of Yakimyuk's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Yakimyuk manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Yakimyuk defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ibssen.

Ibssen goes for an armbar but Yakimyuk turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Yakimyuk.
Yakimyuk is looking to stand up but Ibssen won't let him.

Ibssen has his foot on Yakimyuk's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Yakimyuk works his way back into a safe position though.
Yakimyuk wants to control from the top but Ibssen keeps moving.

Ibssen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Ibssen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Yakimyuk gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Yakimyuk trying to control the position from guard on top but Ibssen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ibssen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Yakimyuk can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Yakimyuk tries to stand but Ibssen is controlling from the bottom.
Yakimyuk wants to control from the top but Ibssen keeps moving.
Ebbe Emmanuel Ibssen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ibssen is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Yakimyuk has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ibssen is proving hard to escape from.

Yakimyuk got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ibssen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Yakimyuk has managed to get both his arms back between Ibssen's legs - danger averted.

Yakimyuk might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ibssen kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Yakimyuk looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Some wild striking there from Yakimyuk.
Roman Yakimyuk seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ibssen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Yakimyuk as he avoids it easily.
Yakimyuk misses with the combination.
A combination from Yakimyuk does no damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ibssen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ibssen moves in looking to clinch but Yakimyuk pushes him off.
Ibssen shoots in for a takedown but Yakimyuk shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Yakimyuk uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Yakimyuk lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Yakimyuk.
Yakimyuk goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Ibssen closes the distance and clinches up with Yakimyuk, looking for a takedown. Ibssen pushes Yakimyuk against the ropes but Yakimyuk circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ibssen has his takedown stuffed
and Yakimyuk counters with a one-two to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jab, jab by Yakimyuk - just one landing.

Ibssen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yakimyuk but Yakimyuk pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I think Yakimyuk has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
