PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boba Fett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colin Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barron comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ave Satani kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Boba Fett has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Boba Fett seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barron lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Barron throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Fett drives through with a takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Fett working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Fett stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barron swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Barron escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fett gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fett in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Fett lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Barron!

Poor strikes thrown by Fett there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Barron is in all sorts of trouble here.
Fett breaks from Barron's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Fett wants to control the pace but Barron is squirming around nicely.
Barron tries to lock up and control but Fett gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Fett scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Barron is desperately trying to improve his position but Fett has a good base and remains in mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fett can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Barron is looking to escape.

Fett moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Barron has worked his arm free - good work by Barron!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fett postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Fett tries to advance to mount but Barron denies him.
Fett lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Fett tries to score with some ground and pound. Barron controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Barron is not content to let Fett control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boba Fett dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Barron ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Barron dodges the punch combination from Fett.
A slow jab from Fett misses its intended target.
Barron swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Fett changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barron tries to avoid it but Fett manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barron to the ground. Barron escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Barron throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Fett counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Fett lets loose with a powerful body kick. Barron will feel that in the morning.
Barron throws a good cross that connects.
Barron moves in looking to clinch but Fett pushes him off.
Fett misses with a straight left.
Fett thows a body shot but no joy.
Fett misses with an uppercut. Barron saw that one coming.
Fett scores with a jab to the jaw.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Fett here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Fett checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Fett buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Fett swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fett throws a low kick, looking for Barron's leg but Barron calmly moves out of range.
Fett cracks a nice hook into Barron's ribs.

Boba Fett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barron uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Fett.
Fett shoots for a double leg takedown but Barron sprawls well. He's pushed Fett's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Fett chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Barron can pounce on him.

Barron is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Fett.

Barron will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Barron finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Barron throws a front kick aimed at Fett's knee but Fett avoids it well.
Barron misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Fett.
Fett shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Barron as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Boba Fett. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fett lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Fett connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Barron takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barron throws a looping overhand right but Fett ducks down to avoid it.
Barron moves out of range of the body kick.
Barron displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fett.
Fett clobbers Barron with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Fett throws a body punch but Barron moves out of range.
Barron throws a looping overhand right but Fett ducks down to avoid it.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Barron crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Fett - the referee stops the clock and Barron gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Fett. Barron manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Barron does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Fett listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Barron throws a wild body kick that Fett sees coming a mile off.
Fett thumps Barron with a low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boba Fett dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Barron tries a head kick but it misses.

Barron sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Barron throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fett throws the kick towards the body but Barron avoids it.
Both fighters circling a little - Fett finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Fett. Barron does a little dance to reset his feet.

Boba Fett is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Fett tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Fett's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Boba Fett has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Fett buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

and Barron counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
A lazy left from Barron finds it's target.

It looks like Boba Fett has been cut.
Barron's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Fett shoots in looking for a takedown. Barron tries to sprawl out of it but Fett keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barron manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Barron lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Fett scores with a hook to the body. Barron takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Barron uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fett.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Boba Fett.
Well Fett has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
