PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leo Bomberman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Isidor Edge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Leo Bomberman has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Leo Bomberman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Isidor Edge!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bomberman shoots in and drives through. Edge sprawls well.
Bomberman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown by Bomberman or perhaps it was just good defense by Edge which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leo Bomberman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bomberman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Edge.
Bomberman fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Bomberman is looking to clinch.
Bomberman tries to close the distance and clinch but Edge swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Edge closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bomberman did well to prevent Edge getting side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Edge in particular looking to stall.

Edge thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bomberman's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bomberman looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Bomberman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Edge on the ground.
Bomberman wants to control but Edge is keeping busy.
Edge is keen to just control but Bomberman is a slippery customer.

Edge gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Edge throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Edge fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bomberman to the ground. Edge is now in Bomberman's guard.
Edge sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Bomberman keeping moving, preventing Edge from controlling successfully.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Edge pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bomberman is keeping the position for now.
Edge working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Edge postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Bomberman trying to strike off his back.
Bomberman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Bomberman is looking to stand back up but Edge counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Bomberman.

Edge stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bomberman to get to his feet.
Edge fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Edge shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Bomberman is refusing to be controlled, as Edge sits in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bomberman makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bomberman.

Edge decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Edge moves into range and clinches up with Bomberman.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bomberman misses with a hook to the ribs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bomberman can't find room to land a body shot as Edge controls the action.
Edge tries to land a knee to the head but Bomberman blocks with his arms.
Bomberman misses with a shot to the kidneys.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Isidor Edge dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Bomberman has Edge up against the cage in a clinch.
Bomberman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Edge gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Edge gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bomberman.
Bomberman tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leo Bomberman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bomberman tries to score a body lock takedown but Edge shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Edge gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Edge wants to control but Bomberman is keeping him busy.

Edge is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bomberman defends it well.

Edge is controlling the pace.
Edge moves into full mount! Bomberman won't be happy about that!
Edge trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Edge connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Edge stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Bomberman shoots in for a takedown but Edge shows good takedown defense.
Edge shoots in for a double leg but Bomberman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Leo Bomberman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Edge counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Edge.
Bomberman goes for a takedown attempt but Edge pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Edge wants to clinch but Bomberman slips to the side
and Bomberman makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Bomberman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Edge gets a clinch.
Edge avoiding damage.
Bomberman has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Edge after a bit of a struggle.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Edge avoiding damage as Bomberman throws knees to the body.

Edge breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bomberman tries to close the distance and clinch but Edge swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Edge.
Bomberman throws a head kick that Edge semi-blocks.
Bomberman swats away the attempt to clinch by Edge.
Bomberman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Edge circles away.
Bomberman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Edge sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bomberman somewhat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bomberman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Edge shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bomberman napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Edge lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Bomberman down.
Bomberman is looking for a sweep.
Edge trying to control the action but Bomberman is working from the bottom.
Bomberman is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Edge has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Edge has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Isidor Edge showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Edge moves into the clinch successfully.
Bomberman jumps guard but Edge stands there with Bomberman around his waist. Bomberman gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Bomberman's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Bomberman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Edge gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Edge misses with a knee to the head.
Edge tries to pull guard but Bomberman holds him up against the cage and eventually Edge drops back down to his feet.
Bomberman wants to break free but Edge has control.
Bomberman on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bomberman is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Edge to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leo Bomberman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bomberman tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Edge just stands there and leans against the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bomberman wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Edge has him pressed against the cage.

Edge jumps into guard, dragging Bomberman to the mat.

Edge had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bomberman defends it easily.
Edge bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bomberman's guard.
Bomberman wants to sweep but no luck.

Edge decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Edge closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Edge lands in his opponent's guard.
Isidor Edge has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Edge working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Edge connects with a couple of short punches.
Edge trying to control but Bomberman is working from the bottom.
Bomberman is looking to stand up but Edge isn't so interested in that idea.

Bomberman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Edge is aware though and is defending well.
Edge with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Bomberman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Edge is one step ahead there.
Edge is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that Edge has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Bomberman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Edge is one step ahead there.

Edge slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Isidor Edge was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Bomberman doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Edge counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bomberman's guard now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Edge looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Isidor Edge comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Edge has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
