Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Mercer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Valentine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Valentine struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 137.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valentine shoots in looking for a takedown. Mercer tries to sprawl out of it but Valentine keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mercer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Mercer closes the distance and clinches.

Mercer is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Valentine can't fight it off and eventually Mercer manages to take the fight to the floor. Valentine looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mercer forces his way into half guard.
Mercer is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Mercer is nestled in close to Valentine, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Mercer seems to be working for a kimura but Valentine defends the submission attempt.

Ryan Mercer opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
