PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steven Spielberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Silent Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Bob's choice of entrance music: mama said knock you out. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steven Spielberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Silent Bob!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spielberg closes the distance and clinches up with Bob, looking for a takedown. Spielberg pushes Bob against the cage but Bob circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Spielberg looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Bob looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Spielberg dodges the punch combination from Bob.

Spielberg gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bob to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Spielberg can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bob controls the pace.
Spielberg keeping moving, preventing Bob from controlling successfully.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Silent Bob wasn't active enough on the ground.

Bob shoots in and bounces Spielberg off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Bob gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bob misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bob closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Steven Spielberg has been cut.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bob lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bob is defended easily by Spielberg.
Steven Spielberg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Silent Bob.
Bob is looking to clinch but Spielberg is avoiding it.
Bob shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Spielberg as he jumps to the side.
Bob dives in and grabs Spielberg's left leg, looking for a takedown. Spielberg pushes down on Bob's head and hops out.
Bob is trying hard to land a takedown here. Spielberg sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Spielberg rushes Bob and presses him up against the cage.
Spielberg wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Bob is trying to pull guard but Spielberg has him pressed against the cage.

Spielberg pulls Bob into guard.
Bob stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spielberg swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Spielberg can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bob controls the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Silent Bob hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Bob misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Spielberg blocks a jab.
Spielberg pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bob tries to clinch but Spielberg moves away

and Spielberg counters by clinching up.
Spielberg tries to pull guard but Bob won't allow it.
Spielberg blocks an uppercut.
Spielberg is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Spielberg manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Spielberg could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bob decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silent Bob dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Steven Spielberg's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bob shoots in but Spielberg avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Silent Bob seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bob swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Spielberg counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bob looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bob manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Spielberg manages to get himself to full guard.
Bob controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bob won't allow Spielberg to sweep him here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

We're going to have a standup here because Steven Spielberg wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bob throws a series of strikes that have Spielberg backpedaling.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bob ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Bob shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Bob would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Bob trying to control but Spielberg is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Silent Bob.
Bob throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Spielberg's waist but Spielberg gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bob off to one side.
Spielberg darts in trying to clinch

and Bob counters with a single leg into guard. Spielberg didn't expect that.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Bob controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Silent Bob has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Spielberg shoots for a double leg takedown but Bob sprawls well. He's pushed Spielberg's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Spielberg will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bob throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bob throws a leg kick but Spielberg moved away.
Bob takes a swing at Spielberg's ribcage but misses.
Bob scores with a spinning back kick!
Steven Spielberg is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bob closes this distance looking for a takedown but Spielberg circles away.
Steven Spielberg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Silent Bob.

Spielberg fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bob gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Spielberg counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Bob is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Bob scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Bob lands with a good body shot.

Spielberg closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bob quickly recovers to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Spielberg wants to take a breather but Bob is having none of it.
Bob controlling the position well.

Spielberg is trying to control. Bob wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Spielberg is looking for a kimura here.
Bob is pressing down on Spielberg's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Spielberg wants to stand but Bob has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bob managing to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silent Bob showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Spielberg has a takedown stuffed.

Bob fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Spielberg, pushing him back against the cage.
Bob is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Spielberg to keep the fight standing.
Bob changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Spielberg fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Bob gets a takedown into half guard.

Bob gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Bob connects with a body shot.
Bob wants to clinch up but Spielberg keeps it at a distance.
Nice takedown defense from Bob. No joy for Spielberg on that attempt.
Bob is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Spielberg rather than just go for the knockout.
Bob scores with a crisp jab that stopped Spielberg in his tracks.

Bob decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Spielberg, up you get!

Bob tries to pull guard but Spielberg holds him up against the cage and eventually Bob drops back down to his feet.
Spielberg fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Spielberg prevents a takedown attempt there.
Spielberg has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bob is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Bob jumps into guard, dragging Spielberg to the mat.
Bob throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Bob keeping moving, preventing Spielberg from controlling successfully.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Spielberg tries to free his leg and advance position but Bob is retaining full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Spielberg wants to get up but he can't break Bob's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Silent Bob comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Bob winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
