Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nate McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Harkonnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDonald comes to the cage accompanied by Kryptic Minds & Leon Switch - No Remorse . Vladimir Harkonnen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
McDonald tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Harkonnen is able to avoid easily.
Harkonnen throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck McDonald on the side of the head.
A jab from Harkonnen finds it's way through McDonald's defenses.
Harkonnen lands with a straight right. McDonald didn't see that one coming.
A telegraphed right hand from McDonald misses the target.
McDonald throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McDonald finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
McDonald throws a low kick but Harkonnen avoids it.
No joy there for McDonald, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McDonald just misses with a punch to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

McDonald takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
McDonald takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

McDonald wants to get back to striking at distance but Harkonnen won't allow it.
McDonald is trying to break the clinch but Harkonnen has him pressed against the cage.
Harkonnen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

McDonald drops his hands momentarily and Harkonnen takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Harkonnen counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps McDonald thinking.
McDonald connects with a solid leg kick.
Harkonnen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McDonald as he jumps to the side.
Harkonnen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
McDonald throws a hook but Harkonnen avoids it easily.
Harkonnen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. McDonald was covering up waiting for the punch and Harkonnen finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
McDonald looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Harkonnen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Let's hope that Harkonnen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

McDonald takes a swing at Harkonnen's ribcage but misses.
McDonald lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Harkonnen lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Harkonnen throws a hook to the side of McDonald's head but McDonald sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Harkonnen slips a straight right by McDonald.
McDonald lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
McDonald misses with the body kick
and Harkonnen counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
McDonald throws a leg kick but Harkonnen moved away.
McDonald scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Harkonnen might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
McDonald throws a right and a left that both miss.
Harkonnen gets a takedown into half guard.

Harkonnen wants to take a breather but McDonald is having none of it.

Harkonnen working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. McDonald looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Harkonnen! Submission of the night perhaps?
