Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron Dicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luis Rivera!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Franklyn Lucas and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Rivera checks a leg kick.
Dicks pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Rivera shoots for a double leg takedown but Dicks sprawls well. He's pushed Rivera's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rivera takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Rivera clinches up against the cage.
Dicks lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Dicks goes for a takedown attempt but Rivera pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dicks moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Rivera steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dicks.
Rivera throws a right hand that Dicks ducks under and follows up with a left that Dicks also avoids with ease.
Rivera throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Ron Dicks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rivera fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dicks, pushing him back against the cage.

It looks like Luis Rivera has been cut.
Rivera tries to pull guard but Dicks won't allow it.

Rivera manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Dicks tries to free his leg and advance position but Rivera is retaining full guard.

Rivera changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dicks tries to avoid it but Rivera manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dicks to the ground. Dicks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Dicks jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Rivera closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Rivera wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dicks has him pressed against the cage.

Dicks gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Dicks jumps into guard, dragging Rivera to the mat.

Dicks is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dicks is trying to hold Rivera in close to prevent damage but Rivera has managed to pass into half guard.

Rivera shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dicks's guard.
Rivera is pushing down on Dicks's leg trying to pass to half guard. Dicks is fighting to maintain full guard but Rivera has managed to sneak the leg through.
Dicks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rivera is working away from the top position though.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Dicks lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Rivera uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dicks.

Rivera forces Dicks back against the cage and clinches.
Dicks tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rivera smiles and moves away.

Dicks goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Rivera crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Dicks - the referee stops the clock and Rivera gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Dicks. Rivera manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Dicks does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Rivera takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Rivera wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Dicks throws a lazy right hand but Rivera sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A punch lands to the side of Rivera 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Dicks connects with a leg kick. Rivera looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Rivera feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rivera takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Ron Dicks is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.


Luis Rivera's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
That kick from Dicks tenderised Rivera's leg. Rivera is trying to keep his angry face on.
