Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauri Kunnas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henrik Korhonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mauri Kunnas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Henrik Korhonen!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kunnas misses with a wild combination.
Kunnas misses with a looping right.

Korhonen clinches with his opponent.
Kunnas with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Kunnas tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Kunnas tries to land a knee to the head but Korhonen blocks with his arms.
Kunnas misses with a knee strike.
Kunnas stops a takedown attempt from Korhonen.
Kunnas tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Kunnas throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Korhonen blocks it with crossed arms.

Korhonen tries to break the clinch but Kunnas is controlling the position.

Korhonen is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kunnas can't fight it off and eventually Korhonen manages to take the fight to the floor. Kunnas looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Korhonen is looking to stand up but Kunnas won't let him.
Korhonen looking to sit in guard and control but Kunnas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Korhonen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Korhonen is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Korhonen is striking off his back. Kunnas thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Korhonen tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Kunnas has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Kunnas controlling his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Korhonen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Korhonen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Korhonen is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kunnas sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Korhonen working to try and regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Henrik Korhonen will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kunnas just misses with a punch to the body.
Korhonen fails with the takedown.
Korhonen should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Kunnas tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Korhonen counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kunnas keeping full guard, as Korhonen tries to pass.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kunnas holds on and takes a little breather.
Korhonen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Korhonen stays in close to Kunnas's body and controls the position.
Korhonen is breathing heavily.
Kunnas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Kunnas wriggles free and stands up.
Kunnas shoots in and drives through. Korhonen sprawls well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Korhonen slips under a jab.
Kunnas tries to clinch

and Korhonen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kunnas's guard now.
Kunnas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kunnas keeping full guard, as Korhonen tries to pass.
Korhonen won't allow Kunnas to get back to his feet.
Kunnas keeping moving, preventing Korhonen from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kunnas is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Korhonen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kunnas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Kunnas looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Korhonen is looking for a sweep. Kunnas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Korhonen regains full guard. Nicely done.
Kunnas showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Korhonen is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kunnas dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henrik Korhonen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Korhonen dodges the punch combination from Kunnas.
Kunnas wants to clinch but Korhonen slips to the side

and Korhonen counters by moving into the clinch.
Kunnas scores with a knee to the head.
Kunnas using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Korhonen. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Kunnas using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Korhonen has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Korhonen tries to pull guard but Kunnas won't allow it.

Kunnas lands a big knee to the head and Korhonen goes down! Kunnas pounces and finishes the fight with strikes! He jumps to his feet and celebrates with the crowd!
