PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Wes Ekwall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bart Meesters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ekwall might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Linkin Park--One Step Closer. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ekwall gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Meesters to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Ekwall fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Meesters, pushing him back against the cage.

Ekwall looking to hit a scissor sweep but Meesters is one step ahead there.
Meesters trying to control the position from guard on top but Ekwall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Bart Meesters has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Meesters drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Meesters wants to control but Ekwall is keeping him busy.

Meesters is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ekwall tries to improve position but can't.

Meesters tries for a kimura but Ekwall is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Ekwall's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ekwall manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Meesters trying to control but Ekwall is working from the bottom.
Ekwall pulls Meesters in close to his closed guard and prevents Meesters from doing any damage or advancing position.
Ekwall is trying to control the position but Meesters postures up.

Meesters is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ekwall pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Meesters is keeping the position for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Wes Ekwall will probably get the nod.

Ekwall tries to close the distance and clinch but Meesters swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Meesters avoids a punch combination nicely.

Meesters is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Ekwall is tapping! Great win for Meesters!
