Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Argo Surtr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Villi Kotobalavu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Argo Surtr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Villi Kotobalavu!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Argo Surtr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kotobalavu creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Surtr sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
You can see the frustration on Surtr's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Surtr manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Surtr seems to be looking for submissions.
Kotobalavu wants to control but Surtr is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Villi Kotobalavu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Surtr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kotobalavu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kotobalavu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Surtr manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kotobalavu manages to get himself to full guard.
Kotobalavu is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Surtr wants to stand but Kotobalavu has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Surtr has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Villi Kotobalavu seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Surtr throws a lazy right hand but Kotobalavu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Argo Surtr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Argo Surtr.
Well Kotobalavu has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
