Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chris Rafferty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian McBride (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brian McBride is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Rafferty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Brian McBride!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McBride blocks a head kick by Rafferty.
McBride looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Rafferty shoots in and drives through. McBride sprawls well.
Rafferty doesn't succeed with the takedown

and McBride counters with a shoot takedown. Rafferty fights it but they end up in guard.
McBride stopping the sweep attempt from Rafferty.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McBride wanted to stand there but Rafferty had control of the position.

Rafferty has his feet on McBride's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Rafferty shoots in for a takedown but McBride shows good takedown defense.

McBride fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rafferty, pushing him back against the cage.
Rafferty is trying to pull guard but McBride has him pressed against the cage.

Come on McBride - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
McBride wants a takedown but no success here.

Rafferty drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McBride gets the underhooks and prevents it.
McBride can't break the clinch.
McBride tries to circle away but Rafferty has him pinned against the cage.
Rafferty drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

McBride with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
McBride is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Rafferty is defending well for now.

Rafferty ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rafferty no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Rafferty escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McBride gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McBride won't allow Rafferty to sweep him here.
Rafferty is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
McBride throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Rafferty throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

McBride pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rafferty is keeping the position for now.
Rafferty will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

McBride drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rafferty manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now McBride has Rafferty in his guard.
Rafferty throws a big elbow that misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rafferty decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Brian McBride will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rafferty shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McBride defends it nicely.

McBride goes for a takedown attempt but Rafferty pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

McBride is trying to push Rafferty away but Rafferty has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Rafferty jumps into guard, dragging McBride to the mat.

McBride is looking to work some ground and pound but Rafferty has wrist control.

McBride decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rafferty, up you get!

and McBride counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rafferty!
Rafferty is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Rafferty wants to hold on but McBride pushes him away.

McBride moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Rafferty has worked his arm free - good work by Rafferty!

McBride thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

McBride trying to control the action but Rafferty is working from the bottom.

McBride working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McBride is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rafferty has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rafferty throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Brian McBride will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Rafferty throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Rafferty has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McBride is working away from the top position though.
Rafferty wants to improve his position but McBride is controlling well.
Brian McBride has got the better of the ground game so far.

McBride is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rafferty is just riding it out for now. McBride eventually gives up the hold.
