Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack The Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blake Axe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Axe is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: For Whom the Bell Tolls. Jack The Ripper could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Blake Axe's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack The Ripper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Blake Axe!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Axe stuffs the takedown.

The Ripper feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The Ripper with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Axe has his foot on The Ripper's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. The Ripper works his way back into a safe position though.

The Ripper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Axe lands a good knee to the midsection. The Ripper won't want to take too many of those.

The Ripper wants to take the fight to the mat but Axe manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Axe takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The Ripper goes for a takedown attempt but Axe pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Axe misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

A slapping leg kick lands for Axe.
The Ripper slaps away a takedown attempt from Axe, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Nice takedown defense from Axe. No joy for The Ripper on that attempt.

The Ripper gets a double leg takedown into Axe's guard.

Axe is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The Ripper pushes down on Axe's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Axe wants to control but The Ripper is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Axe is looking to escape.

The Ripper keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The Ripper wants to control but Axe is keeping him busy.
Axe is trying to maintain the position but The Ripper is very close to passing his half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Axe on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The Ripper is taking a breather. Axe says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Axe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Axe fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and The Ripper has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Blake Axe will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

The Ripper drops back looking for a leg! Axe is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Axe manages to kick The Ripper off! The Ripper jumps back into Axe's guard.
Jack The Ripper overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The Ripper wants to control from the top but Axe keeps moving.

The Ripper got a little sloppy there for a moment and Axe has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, The Ripper has managed to get both his arms back between Axe's legs - danger averted.

Axe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

We're going to have a standup here because Jack The Ripper wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Blake Axe is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I've got Axe winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
