PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rocky Mountain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Murt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murt has chosen I like to move it as his entrance music. The key to victory for Rocky Mountain has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rocky Mountain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Matthew Murt!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murt throws a sloppy head kick
and Mountain counters with a series of strikes. Murt will be more careful next time no doubt.
Mountain checks the leg kick.
Murt checks a leg kick nicely.

Murt moves into the clinch.
Murt leaning his opponent against the cage.

Mountain manages to break the clinch.
Matthew Murt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mountain dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Murt. That did some damage!
Mountain keeps the fight on the outside.
Murt fails with an attempt to clinch.
Murt lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Murt shoots in looking for a takedown but Mountain manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Murt's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Mountain scores with a jab. Murt acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Murt shoots in but Mountain avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mountain slaps away a takedown attempt from Murt, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Rocky Mountain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew Murt.
Murt closes the distance but Mountain moves to the side
letting Mountain counter with a right hand.
Nice straight punches there by Mountain. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Mountain.
Mountain misses with a double jab.
Murt tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Mountain counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Murt fails with a takedown attempt.

Murt closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mountain to the mat! Mountain manages to get full guard.
Murt has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mountain is proving hard to escape from.
Murt throws a big right hand that misses.
Murt has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Murt slips nicely into half guard.

Murt is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Murt trying to control the action but Mountain is working from the bottom.
Mountain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Murt on the ground.
Murt seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Murt missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Matthew Murt.
Mountain throws a shot from downtown. Murt moves away and avoids it.
Murt wants to clinch
and Mountain counters with an inside leg kick.

Murt chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mountain can pounce on him.

Mountain clinches.
Mountain is trying to push Murt away but Murt has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Mountain is trying to break the clinch but Murt has him pressed against the cage.
Murt is trying to drag Mountain to the mat but Mountain just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Mountain stops a takedown attempt from Murt.
Mountain on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mountain tries to land knees in the clinch but Murt avoids the damage to the body.
Mountain gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Murt.
Murt tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Matthew Murt will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A bone on bone clash there as Mountain blocks the leg kick.
Murt throws a head kick that misses
and Mountain counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mountain works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Murt shoots in for a double leg but Mountain sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mountain throws a leg kick which misses Murt's front leg but catches the back leg as Murt tries to avoid it.
Murt takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Mountain has Murt up against the cage in a clinch.
Murt has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mountain is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Murt jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mountain walks away with a smile on his face. Murt gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rocky Mountain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew Murt.

Mountain closes the distance and clinches.
Murt wants a takedown but no success here.

Murt tries to pull guard but Mountain forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Murt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Mountain digs a good body shot into Murt's ribs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A nice leg kick lands there from Murt.
Mountain scores with a hook to the body. Murt takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Rocky Mountain is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mountain looks for the body kick but Murt saw that one coming.
Mountain scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Murt fails to land the takedown.
Mountain uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Murt has time to react.
Mountain blocks a low kick nicely.
Rocky Mountain is winning the standup battle so far.
Murt is looking to clinch.
Mountain stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Murt.
Murt tries to clinch but Mountain moves out of range.
Murt closes the distance but Mountain moves to the side
and Mountain counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Murt throws a sloppy head kick
and Mountain counters with a nice body shot.
Murt blocks a head kick by Mountain.
Mountain throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Murt walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Mountain lands a nice leg kick that just misses Murt's sensitive parts.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Murt uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mountain.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Murt tries a head kick but it misses.

Mountain looks to land a combination but Murt avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rocky Mountain dominated that second round.
That's time! Mountain's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Murt wants to clinch
and Mountain connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mountain scores with a jab. Murt acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Murt darts in and clinches Mountain up against the cage.
Murt stalling the fight.
Mountain is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Mountain's face as he tries to break the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Mountain - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Murt breaks from the clinch.
Mountain lands a nice leg kick that just misses Murt's sensitive parts.

Murt takes one to the chin there.


Murt is rocked!
Murt misses with a double jab.
Murt tries to close the distance and clinch but Mountain swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mountain swats away the attempt to clinch by Murt.
Murt tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Murt takes a swing at Mountain's ribcage but misses.

Murt drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Murt pushes down on Mountain's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Mountain looks like he's trying to stand up.
Murt is trying to control the action in half guard but Mountain is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Murt thows a huge punch but Mountain dodges it nicely.
Mountain pushes Murt off looking to stand but Murt dives back in and keeps control.
Mountain is trying to maintain the position but Murt is very close to passing his half guard.
Murt passes to full mount!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Murt with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Murt tries to control but Mountain wriggling away.
Mountain takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Murt throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Murt throwing strikes here but Mountain is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Murt is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mountain can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


Mountain is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Murt lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Oh Mountain is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mountain is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Murt postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Mountain badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Murt around the waist but Murt pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Murt is the winner by TKO! Murt jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matthew Murt!
In his post fight interview, Matthew Murt started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
