PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zhang Wei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Goa Goa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goa Goa told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zhang Wei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Goa Goa!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wei fails with the takedown

and Goa counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Goa looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wei with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Goa has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Wei is working to get back to half guard.
Wei takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Wei is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Goa postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Wei badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Goa around the waist but Goa pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Goa is the winner by TKO! Goa jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Goa Goa!
Goa Goa spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
