PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Goldman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Andrews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrews is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Inflikted. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michael Goldman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, BJ Andrews!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Andrews feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Goldman controlling the position.
Goldman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Andrews is controlling him.
Goldman lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Andrews!

Goldman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Goldman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Andrews can't escape the position.
Goldman controlling from the full mount.

Michael Goldman has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Andrews closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Goldman's guard.
Goldman wants to stand up but Andrews is controlling him.
Andrews postures up.

Andrews has gone for a leg lock! Goldman slips out almost immediately though and dives into Andrews's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Andrews keeping moving, preventing Goldman from controlling successfully.
Goldman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Michael Goldman wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Andrews moves out of range of the body kick.
Goldman throws a leg kick but Andrews sees it coming and moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Andrews is defended easily by Goldman.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Andrews shoots in but Goldman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Andrews shoots in for a takedown but Goldman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Michael Goldman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BJ Andrews.
Andrews shoots in but no luck this time.
Goldman connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Andrews momentarily.
Andrews tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Goldman swivels and escapes.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Goldman.
Andrews looks gassed!
Goldman lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Goldman fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Andrews has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Goldman pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Goldman lands a big head kick that sends Andrews tumbling to the mat! Goldman takes a step backwards and waves Andrews back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Andrews is rocked!


It looks like BJ Andrews has been cut.
Andrews misses with a takedown
and Goldman counters with a body kick.
Andrews is still on wobbly legs! Can Goldman finish him?
BOOM! Goldman lands a beautiful left hook that drops Andrews. Andrews tries to recover but Goldman is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Andrews lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Goldman!
