PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steve Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Shin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcus Shin!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fisher throws a sloppy head kick and Shin moves out of range easily.
Fisher misses with a takedown

and Shin counters with a takedown into side control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Shin takes a little break here. Fisher wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Shin landing strikes.
Fisher defending against the ground and pound.
Shin is working Fisher over with some ground and pound from side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fisher gets back to half guard.
Fisher is trying to maintain the position but Shin is very close to passing his half guard.

Shin seems to be looking for submissions.
Shin is nestled in close to Fisher, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Fisher is defending against the submission attempts here by Shin.
Shin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Fisher has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are battling for position here. Fisher manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Fisher not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fisher is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Fisher has momentary wrist control but Shin slips an elbow through the middle.

Shin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Shin tries to free his leg and advance position but Fisher is retaining full guard.
Shin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Shin wants to control from the top but Fisher keeps moving.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fisher can't keep his opponent in guard - Shin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Shin lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A looping hook to the body misses from Shin. Fisher does a little dance to reset his feet.
Fisher misses with a takedown
and Shin counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Fisher.

Shin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Fisher is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Fisher prevents Shin from improving his position.
Shin gets full guard.
Marcus Shin has got the better of the ground game so far.

Shin wants to sweep here but Fisher controlling him for the moment.
Shin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Shin looking to control and managing it successfully.
Shin lands a big shot there that rocks Fisher but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fisher is bucking up trying to escape but Shin cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

BOOM! Shin connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Fisher really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Shin working for a guillotine from mount but Fisher is in no mood to give up.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Shin cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shin controlling from mount.
Shin tries to control but Fisher wriggling away.
Shin scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Fisher?

Oh Fisher is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Shin postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Fisher in real trouble here! The ref calls for Fisher to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
