PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kai Urutaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirty Bastard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bastard has chosen ODB- Brooklyn Zoo as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Urutaka pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Bastard lands a left and a right that sends Urutaka crashing to the canvas! Bastard dives into mount looking to finish!

Urutaka is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bastard looking to finish with strikes here!
Oh Urutaka is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bastard trying to control but Urutaka is having none of it.
Urutaka seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The referee warns Urutaka that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Oooh a lovely combination from Bastard sends Urutaka down but not out. Bastard dives into side control looking to finish.

Bastard decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Urutaka gets tackled into the ropes by Bastard. Bastard maintains the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Urutaka's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Urutaka is pushing Bastard up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Bastard breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Urutaka throws a right and a left that Bastard avoids nicely.
Urutaka rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bastard moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nice shot lands for Bastard.
Urutaka misses with a series of wild punches.
Bastard tries to clinch up.
Bastard tries to clinch but Urutaka moves out of range.
Bastard wants to clinch up but Urutaka keeps it at a distance.
Dirty Bastard is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Urutaka looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Urutaka closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Urutaka lands in his opponent's guard.
Urutaka is breathing heavily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bastard is on top in guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bastard connects with a nice short shot to Urutaka's temple.
Bastard uses his free foot to push down on Urutaka's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Urutaka.

Dirty Bastard dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Bastard gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Bastard bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Urutaka's guard.
Bastard tries to free his leg and advance position but Urutaka is retaining full guard.
Urutaka is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bastard is controlling him.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Bastard throws a big right hand that misses.
Bastard with a flurry of punches that miss.
Bastard postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Urutaka knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bastard on the ground.
Bastard with a nice head shot there.

Bastard stands and steps away. Urutaka gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Dirty Bastard seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bastard is looking to clinch but Urutaka is avoiding it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bastard slips a jab and a cross from Urutaka.
Bastard tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Urutaka manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Bastard in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Dirty Bastard spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
