PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Diego Brandao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raekwon The Chef (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Diego Brandao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Raekwon The Chef!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brandao tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Brandao throws a head kick but The Chef moves out of range.
The Chef keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from The Chef. Brandao does a little dance to reset his feet.
Brandao throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Brandao misses with a two punch combination.
Brandao misses with a looping right.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

The Chef pulls Brandao into guard.
The Chef has a closed guard, preventing Brandao from standing up.
The Chef bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brandao's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells The Chef's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

The Chef stands and steps away. Brandao gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The Chef tries to close the distance and clinch up but Brandao swats him away and circles back towards the center.

A head kick misses from Brandao.
Brandao throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Brandao lands a head kick. The Chef smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

The Chef pushes Brandao up against the ropes in a clinch.

The Chef jumps guard.
The Chef manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Brandao manages to get himself to full guard.
The Chef postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The Chef is looking to work some ground and pound but Brandao has wrist control.
Brandao is looking to stand up but The Chef isn't so interested in that idea.
The Chef wants to control from the top but Brandao keeps moving.
The Chef loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The Chef stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brandao swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The Chef throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Brandao works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The Chef gets to his feet - Brandao follows without any prompting.
Brandao circles away from the clinch attempt.

Brandao moves into the clinch.
Brandao tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

The Chef jumps into guard, dragging Brandao to the mat.
Brandao wants to get up but he can't break The Chef's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The Chef looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Brandao wants to stand but The Chef is controlling his posture from full guard.
The Chef is pulling down on Brandao's head. It's preventing any offense from Brandao, at least for the moment.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Raekwon The Chef.

Brandao tries to keep at a distance but The Chef has taken the fight into the clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The Chef manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The Chef lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Diego Brandao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raekwon The Chef.

The Chef darts in and clinches Brandao up against the ropes.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as The Chef holds on and takes a little breather.
Brandao is looking to stand up but The Chef won't let him.

Brandao throws a head kick but The Chef moves out of range.

The Chef doesn't manage to clinch there - Brandao circles away.

Brandao darts in and clinches The Chef up against the ropes.
The Chef tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Brandao just stands there and leans against the ropes.

The Chef looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brandao is one step ahead there.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Raekwon The Chef hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Brandao has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of The Chef is proving hard to escape from.
Brandao wants to stand and escape but instead The Chef has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The Chef postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Brandao bigstyle! Two more strikes land for The Chef and the fight is over!
