The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Welsh throws a head kick that misses.
Nice takedown defense from Predir. No joy for Welsh on that attempt.
Predir misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Welsh.

Predir clinches up against the cage.

Welsh is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Predir is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Predir advances to half guard.
Predir working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jason Predir just wasn't active enough.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Welsh enables Predir to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Welsh manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Welsh has his foot on Predir's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Predir works his way back into a safe position though.

Predir scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Welsh to see if he's OK.

Predir is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Welsh is trying to escape and Predir transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Welsh is forced to tap! Nice work there by Predir! Very nice indeed!
