PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Breivik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arnold Vegh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vegh is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Linkin Park- The catalyst. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ronnie Breivik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Arnold Vegh!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vegh takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Vegh throws a low kick but Breivik avoids it.
Breivik lands a body shot.
Vegh throws a big shot that misses.
Vegh keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Breivik.
Vegh throws a quick inside leg kick.
Vegh connects with a jab.
Vegh throws a chopping leg kick but Breivik manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Breivik moves out of range of the strikes.
Vegh has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Vegh there as he acknowledges the shot.
Vegh throws a sloppy head kick and Breivik moves out of range easily.
A solid leg kick lands there for Vegh.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Breivik misses with a few strikes there.
Vegh misses with a head kick.
Vegh fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Breivik feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Veghs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Vegh dives in and grabs Breivik's left leg, looking for a takedown. Breivik pushes down on Vegh's head and hops out.
Breivik throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Vegh sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Vegh shoots in and gets a takedown into Breivik's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Breivik keeping full guard, as Vegh tries to pass.
Breivik knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vegh on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vegh is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Vegh works over Breivik with some ground and pound from guard.
Vegh passes easily into side control. Nice work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vegh in side control, throwing shots but Breivik defends.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Vegh wants to control but Breivik is keeping him busy.
Vegh postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Breivik is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Vegh has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The strikes coming from Vegh are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Breivik taking punishment in the form of punches.
Breivik dodges the ground and pound from Vegh.
Vegh throwing shots but missing, from side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vegh wants to lay and pray for a moment but Breivik keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arnold Vegh dominated that round.
That's time! Breivik's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Vegh looks to throw the jab but Breivik is out of range.
Vegh looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Breivik is fending him off so far but Vegh persists. Nope, Breivik circles away and we're back to standing.
Breivik works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Vegh tries for a takedown but Breivik sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Arnold Vegh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Vegh connects with a crisp jab.
Vegh throws a hook but Breivik blocks it.
Vegh missing with a left hand there. Breivik was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Vegh fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ronnie Breivik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arnold Vegh.
Breivik throws a good cross that connects.

Vegh shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Breivik eats them both and turns towards Vegh to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

The fight stays on the outside here - Vegh looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Arnold Vegh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vegh swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Breivik counters with a nice uppercut.
Vegh tries to clinch up.

A combination from Vegh does no damage.
Breivik defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Vegh.
Vegh misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Breivik tries to sprawl but Vegh drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Vegh is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Vegh tries to pass to full mount but Breivik defends it.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Vegh is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Breivik reverses the position - he's now on top in Vegh's guard.
Breivik has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Vegh will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Vegh is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Arnold Vegh has got the better of the ground game so far.

Vegh escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Breivik gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vegh wants to stand up but Breivik is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arnold Vegh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Vegh drives through and clinches with Breivik against the cage.

Vegh is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Breivik can't fight it off and eventually Vegh manages to take the fight to the floor. Breivik looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Vegh drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Breivik dives on top into guard.
Vegh is trying to keep Breivik in close.

Vegh is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Breivik is trying to break the clinch but Vegh is controlling him.

Vegh has clasped his hands together around Breivik's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Vegh is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Vegh pushes Breivik off and gets back to his feet.
Vegh ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Vegh fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Vegh misses with a few strikes there.
Vegh throws a nice looking combination but Breivik bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Vegh tries a low kick but Breivik avoids it.
Breivik on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Breivik tries to keep at a distance but Vegh has taken the fight into the clinch.
Vegh is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Breivik pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Arnold Vegh is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Vegh wants a takedown.
Vegh keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Breivik's efforts to push away.
Breivik tries to break the clinch but Vegh is controlling the position.
Breivik wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Vegh has him pressed against the cage.
Breivik is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Vegh has Breivik pressed against the cage, preventing Breivik from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Breivik has had enough of the clinch but Vegh keeps him there for the moment.
Vegh lands with a short shot to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Breivik wants to break the clinch but can't.
Vegh lands an elbow that stopped Breivik in his tracks for a moment.
Vegh tries for a takedown. No joy.

Ronnie Breivik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arnold Vegh.
Vegh lands a hook that snaps the head of Breivik backwards.

Arnold Vegh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Vegh has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
