Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Syd Barrett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Monstra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monstra has chosen Slayer - Hate Worldwide as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Marcus Monstra has the eye of the tiger tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Monstra!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Joseph Jones and John Kavanagh.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monstra lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Monstra tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
A clash of legs there as Monstra blocks the low kick.
Barrett throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Monstra throws a jab but it's blocked by Barrett.
A solid body kick from Barrett.
A telegraphed right hand from Barrett misses the target.
Monstra displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Barrett throws out the jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A punch lands to the side of Monstra 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Barrett throws a front kick aimed at Monstra's knee but Monstra avoids it well.
Syd Barrett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barrett tries to land a front kick but Monstra steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Monstra misses with a left hand
and Barrett counters with a nice leg kick.
Monstra connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Barrett bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Barrett paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A low kick from Barrett is predictable there
and Monstra counters with a straight right hand.
Left hook, right uppercut from Barrett.

It looks like Marcus Monstra has been cut.
Monstra's corner calls for a 1-2. Monstra obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Monstra fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Barrett looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A left lands for Barrett.
Barrett misses with a few strikes there.
Barrett does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Barrett shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Barrett feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Monstras jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Monstra misses with a looping left.
Monstra throws a hook to the side of Barrett's head but Barrett sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Monstra misses with a head kick.
A slapping leg kick lands for Barrett.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Monstra takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

A slow jab from Barrett misses its intended target.
Barrett throws the left hand but Monstra avoids the punch easily.

Barrett throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Barrett feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Monstra's calf.
Barrett sizes up Monstra with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Barrett avoids the head kick by Monstra.
A nice leg kick lands there from Barrett.
Monstra has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Barrett.
Barrett scores with a nice body kick.
Monstra takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Barrett lands a head kick. Monstra smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Monstra takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Barrett buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Barrett lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Barrett, right into the meat.
Monstra's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Barrett feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Monstra's calf.

Barrett moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Barrett throws a head kick that misses.
Barrett lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Barrett chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Barrett thumps Monstra with a low kick.
Barrett looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Barrett. Monstra does a little dance to reset his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Barrett plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Barrett lands with a right hand.
Barrett blocks a head kick by Monstra.
Barrett connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Barrett lands with a big left! Monstra is wobbled badly! Barrett comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Monstra to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Syd Barrett!
Syd Barrett opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
