Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Humberto Montes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Schnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schnell has chosen Chain Music as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Humberto Montes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Schnell!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Jonathan Paton and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montes misses with a wild combination.
Montes throws a right and a left that Schnell avoids nicely.
Montes misses with a two punch combination.
Montes throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Schnell counters with a straight right hand.
Schnell digs a good body shot into Montes's ribs.
Schnell dodges the punch combination from Montes.
Montes swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Montes looks to land a combination but Schnell avoids it well.
Montes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Schnell.
Schnell has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Montes tries to bum rush Schnell with a series of wild strikes but Schnell uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Montes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Schnell tries to buck Montes off but Montes is having none of it.
Schnell struggling a bit here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Schnell can do anything to dispel that myth.
Schnell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Montes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Montes lands a nice forearm strike.
Schnell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Montes taking a breather here.
Schnell is working to avoid the ground and pound but Montes connects with a decent elbow.

Montes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Schnell has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Montes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Schnell keeps working.

The ground and pound from Montes seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Schnell wants to get back to his feet.
Montes tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Montes tries for a kimura but Schnell is defending well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Montes is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Schnell's shoulder. That is not cool.

Montes is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Schnell knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Schnell is looking to reverse the position.
Montes is looking to take a break and control but Schnell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Montes is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Schnell is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Montes scores with a couple of short elbows.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Montes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Montes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Schnell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Montes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Schnell but Schnell pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Montes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Montes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Schnell moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Schnell looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Montes leaves Schnell with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Montes misses with a two punch combination.
Montes jabs Schnell right on the nose. Schnell blinks but takes it well.
Montes moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Montes misses with a two punch combination.
No joy there for Montes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Schnell lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Montes misses with a two punch combination.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Montes scores with a one two! Schnell had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Schnell takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Montes misses with a jab, cross combination.
Montes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Schnell.
Schnell bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Schnell throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Montes sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Schnell looks for a takedown but Montes sprawls well.
Schnell has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Nice uppercut lands for Montes. That snapped Schnell's head back.
Schnell ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Montes moves away.

Montes is trying hard to land a takedown here. Schnell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Schnell throws out a loose jab but Montes uses good head movement to avoid it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Schnell.
Humberto Montes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Schnell.
Montes throws a series of punches but Schnell avoids them all with ease.

Montes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Montes postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Schnell has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Montes has passed into side control.
Montes lands a decent elbow from side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Montes moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Montes cracks Schnell with a big elbow.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Montes swings around for an armbar but Schnell sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Montes's guard.

Schnell stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Montes throws up his legs and catches Schnell in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Schnell tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Montes! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Humberto Montes!
