Brannigan comes to the cage accompanied by Jackyl -- The Lumberjack. Emelianenko comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Казаки - Ой Да kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zapp Brannigan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fedor Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brannigan forces Emelianenko back against the cage and clinches.
Brannigan landing knees to the body.

Brannigan gets a trip takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Brannigan stands up and beckons Emelianenko to join him on the feet.

Brannigan has taken the fight to the clinch.
Emelianenko wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Brannigan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Brannigan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Emelianenko wants to improve his position but Brannigan is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Emelianenko has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Brannigan escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Brannigan!
Emelianenko is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Emelianenko tries to get to full guard but Brannigan has control of the leg.

Emelianenko looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Emelianenko is staying active underneath Brannigan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Emelianenko is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Emelianenko moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Emelianenko looking for a guillotine here but Brannigan defends easily.

Emelianenko looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Brannigan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Zapp Brannigan wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Brannigan moves into the clinch.
Emelianenko letting Brannigan take a breather here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Emelianenko is trying to break the clinch but Brannigan is controlling him.
Emelianenko takes a shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zapp Brannigan dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Brannigan moves into the clinch.

Brannigan gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Brannigan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Emelianenko looking for submissions off his back.
Well, if Brannigan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Zapp Brannigan.
Emelianenko ducks right into an uppercut from Brannigan.

Emelianenko gets tackled into the cage by Brannigan. Brannigan maintains the clinch.
Brannigan makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Emelianenko has had enough of the clinch but Brannigan keeps him there for the moment.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Brannigan keeps control of Emelianenko as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Emelianenko wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Brannigan has him pressed against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brannigan pushes Emelianenko back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Brannigan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Emelianenko with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Brannigan to score with a decent uppercut.
Brannigan swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Emelianenko.
Fedor Emelianenko is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Emelianenko throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Emelianenko throws a jab when Brannigan was well out of range.
Emelianenko ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brannigan moves away.
Emelianenko throws a hook to the side of Brannigan's head but Brannigan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Brannigan throws a head kick that misses.
A jab from Emelianenko misses.

Brannigan feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Emelianenko sprawling to the canvas! Emelianenko rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Brannigan finish him?!


Emelianenko is rocked!
Brannigan throws a head kick that misses.
Emelianenko is still on wobbly legs! Can Brannigan finish him?
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Emelianenko in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
Brannigan needs to keep his hands up - Emelianenko had a free shot at his head there.
Emelianenko throws a lazy right hand but Brannigan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Emelianenko throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Brannigan slips a straight right by Emelianenko.
Emelianenko seems to have recovered his senses.
Emelianenko scores with a jab.
Brannigan lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Emelianenko crumples to the floor! Brannigan milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Zapp Brannigan!
After the fight, Zapp Brannigan was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
