PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Morning (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hidiro Hattori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Morning!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hidiro Hattori!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hattori lands a head kick!
Morning shoots in and drives through. Hattori sprawls well.
A right-left combo lands from Morning.
Hattori scores with a jab. Morning acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Morning fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hattori, pushing him back against the cage.
Morning taking a breather.

Morning gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Morning has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hattori is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Morning in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Morning trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Hattori manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Hattori thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hattori is looking to take a break and control but Morning is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Morning is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hattori's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hattori's back!
Morning knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hattori on the ground.

Morning escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hattori gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Morning is breathing heavily.
Hattori working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Morning's head.
Hattori postures up in Morning's guard and throws a big left but Morning blocks it.
Hattori has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Morning preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hattori missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Hattori pushes down on Morning's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hattori thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Morning's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Morning trying to hold on to Hattori's head to control him but Hattori postures up.
Hattori throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Hidiro Hattori will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Morning has taken the fight to the clinch.

Morning gets control of Hattori's arms and successfully pulls guard. Morning will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Hattori in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hidiro Hattori has got the better of the ground game so far.

Morning scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Morning closes the distance and clinches up with Hattori, looking for a takedown. Morning pushes Hattori against the cage but Hattori circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Morning fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hattori lands with a kick to the ribs.
Jack Morning is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hattori lands with a nice body kick.
A left and a right from Hattori both land. Nice combination.
Hattori throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Hattori scores with a head kick.
Morning tries to clinch up.
Morning has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Morning there as he acknowledges the shot.
Hattori connects with a crisp jab.
A right-left combo lands from Hattori.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hattori digs a good hook to Morning's body.
Hattori stalks Morning and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Morning's face. Morning staggers backwards, shaken.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hattori.

Morning takes one to the chin there.
Morning takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Morning throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hattori's waist but Hattori gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Morning off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Morning. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hattori throws a one two combo.
Hattori moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Morning leaves Hattori with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Morning forces Hattori back against the cage and clinches.
Hattori jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Morning walks away with a smile on his face. Hattori gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Morning moves into the clinch successfully.

Morning gets control of Hattori's arms and successfully pulls guard. Morning will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morning has control of Hattori's left arm, preventing Hattori from doing any damage.
Morning looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hattori is one step ahead there.

Morning is trying to control the position but Hattori postures up.
Hattori slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hattori is working for a submission of some sort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hidiro Hattori showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

With the fighters up against the cage, Hattori throws an elbow but misses.
Hattori wants to break free but Morning has control.
Morning is looking to take this one to the mat.
Hattori is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Morning to keep the fight standing.
Hattori is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Morning pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Morning keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hattori's efforts to push away.
Hattori takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hattori has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Morning avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Jack Morning has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hidiro Hattori.

Hattori can't break the clinch.
Morning lands a right hand.

Morning breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Morning rushes Hattori and presses him up against the cage.

Morning drags the fight down to the ground.
Morning striking off his back but it's not causing Hattori any problems.
Hattori missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Hattori in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Morning controlling the position.
Hattori loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Morning manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hattori manages to get himself to full guard.
Hattori is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hattori wants to stand but Morning is controlling the position.
Morning working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hattori is on top in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Morning is controlling Hattori's posture.
Hattori throws a big right hand that misses.

Morning uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Morning clinches up against the cage.
Morning is defending well against a takedown attempt.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Morning takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Hattori jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Morning walks away with a smile on his face. Hattori gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Morning shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Morning looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hattori is fending him off so far but Morning persists. Nope, Hattori circles away and we're back to standing.
Hattori throws a push kick but Morning slaps the foot to one side.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Morning shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hattori but Hattori pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hattori misses with a few strikes there.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Morning is defended easily by Hattori.
Hattori throws the kick towards the body but Morning avoids it.
Hattori lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Hidiro Hattori is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Morning tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hattori swivels and escapes.
Jack Morning has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Morning misses with a wild body shot.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jack Morning.
I think Hattori has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
