Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rick Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Mataiya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rick Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Randy Mataiya!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mataiya rushes Allen and presses him up against the cage.

Mataiya ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mataiya no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Allen wants to control from the top but Mataiya keeps moving.

Mataiya is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Allen defends well.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Mataiya is controlling Allen's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Allen enables Mataiya to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Allen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Allen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mataiya doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mataiya manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mataiya drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mataiya jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mataiya sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Allen's guard.
Allen trying to get back to full guard but Mataiya takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Mataiya has control of Allen's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Allen regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Allen wants to control but Mataiya is having none of it.

Allen looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Mataiya blocks the strikes from Allen.
Mataiya keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Mataiya is working for a kimura but Allen is defending it quite comfortably.

Allen is trying to get back to full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mataiya wants to lay and pray for a moment but Allen keeps working.

Allen makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Allen.
Mataiya's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
It looks like Mataiya might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Randy Mataiya has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Mataiya pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Allen is defended easily by Mataiya.

Mataiya drives through with a takedown into Allen's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Mataiya drops back looking for a leg! Allen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Allen manages to kick Mataiya off! Mataiya jumps back into Allen's guard.

Allen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mataiya gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mataiya not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Mataiya wants to pass the guard but Allen is keeping the position.
Allen looking to control.
Allen keeping moving, preventing Mataiya from controlling successfully.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mataiya is stalling in the full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Randy Mataiya wasn't active enough on the ground.

Allen clinches with his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Mataiya dominated that round.
That's time! Allen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Allen has Mataiya up against the cage in a clinch.
Allen using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Mataiya has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Allen jumps into guard, dragging Mataiya to the mat.

Mataiya drops back looking for a leg! Allen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Allen manages to kick Mataiya off! Mataiya jumps back into Allen's guard.

Allen looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mataiya is looking to clinch.
Mataiya avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Mataiya shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Mataiya stands up from Allen's guard - Mataiya perhaps looking for a knockout.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Mataiya lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Allen has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Allen and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mataiya looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Allen gets control of Mataiya's arms and successfully pulls guard. Allen will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Allen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mataiya can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mataiya slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Allen throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Allen manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Mataiya holds on to Allen around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.

Allen thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Allen jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mataiya manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Mataiya wants to control but Allen postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Allen looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Mataiya is avoiding damage well.
Allen postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
You can see the frustration on Mataiya's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Randy Mataiya will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Mataiya has picked Allen up - he's going for a ride! Mataiya dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Allen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mataiya is working away from the top position though.

Randy Mataiya has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mataiya postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Allen to stand up.

Allen looking to stall.
Mataiya tries to pull guard but Allen won't allow it.
Allen throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mataiyas head.
A head punch on the inside from Allen fails to land.

Allen changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mataiya fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rick Allen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mataiya throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Allen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mataiya looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Mataiya tries to bench press Allen off him but Allen keeps the position.
Mataiya is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Mataiya is trying to control Allen's posture but Allen avoids it.

Allen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mataiya knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Who's going to make the next move?
Allen fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Allen in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Mataiya is not content to let Allen control the position.

Allen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Randy Mataiya is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Mataiya holds on to Allen's head and controls the position momentarily.
Rick Allen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mataiya parries the strikes from Allen easily there. Allen is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mataiya to escape.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Randy Mataiya.
I've got Mataiya winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Randy Mataiya tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
