Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Luger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexei Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luger comes to the cage accompanied by Right Here, Right Now - Fatboy Slim. The key to victory for Shane Luger has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shane Luger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alexei Karelin!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelin looks to score with a jab to the body but Luger is just out of range.
Karelin slips under a jab from Luger.
Karelin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Luger at a distance.
Luger attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Luger is looking to clinch but Karelin is avoiding it.
Luger steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Karelin.
Karelin blocks a leg kick.
Karelin walks into a straight right hand from Luger.
Karelin fails to land the takedown.
A slow jab from Karelin misses its intended target.
Karelin walks into a left hand.
Luger dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Karelin. That did some damage!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Luger is looking to clinch.

Luger fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Karelin has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Karelin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Luger was well out of range. Poor timing from Karelin.
Karelin throws the left hand but Luger avoids the punch easily.

Luger clinches.
Karelin is looking to break free of the clinch but Luger has double underhooks.
The referee calls for Luger to work.

Luger breaks from the clinch.
Karelin misses with a wild body shot.
Luger lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Karelin avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Luger scoring well with a low kick there.

Luger throws a predictable looking body shot
and Karelin counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Luger swings widly with a right hand
and Karelin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
That kick from Luger tenderised Karelin's leg. Karelin is trying to keep his angry face on.
Luger misses with a hook.
Karelin takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Karelin. Luger does a little dance to reset his feet.
Luger throws a good cross that connects.
Luger lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Karelin at a distance.
Luger wants to land a leg kick but Karelin is out of range.
Shane Luger is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Karelin misses the body punch
and Luger counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Karelin loads up on a big right hand but Luger slips the punch.

Karelin shoots in and bounces Luger off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Karelin looking to sit in guard and control but Luger gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Karelin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Luger is one step ahead there.
Luger wants to stand but Karelin is controlling his posture from full guard.
Luger has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Luger decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Luger is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Luger gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Karelin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Luger is looking to stand up but Karelin isn't so interested in that idea.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Luger looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Karelin throws a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Luger dominated that round.

Karelin misses the shot to the body.
Luger lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Luger is looking to clinch.
Karelin sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Karelin thows a left - swing and a miss!

Luger fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Karelin, pushing him back against the cage.
Luger has a couple of punches blocked by Karelin.
Luger swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Karelin can't break the clinch.
Luger has Karelin pressed against the cage, preventing Karelin from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Karelin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Luger fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Karelin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Luger cracks the inside of Karelin's front leg.
Luger ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Karelin moves away.
Karelin misses the body punch
and Luger counters with a stiff right hand.
Luger throws a chopping leg kick but Karelin manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Karelin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Luger lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Shane Luger is winning the standup battle so far.
Karelin misses with a lunging right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Luger scores with a leg kick.
Luger throws a half hearted mid kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Luger stuffs the takedown attempt from Karelin. Karelin gets slowly back to his feet.
Shane Luger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexei Karelin.
Luger feints and then cracks Karelin's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Karelin down.
Luger is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Karelin scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Luger doesn't seem bothered though.
Nice defenses there by Luger.
Karelin gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Karelin throws a hook to the side of Luger's head but Luger sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Karelin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Luger sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Nice uppercut there from Luger.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Karelin checks a leg kick.
Karelin misses with a shot to the body
and Luger counters with a nice leg kick.
Shane Luger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Karelin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Luger pinned against the cage. Luger gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Karelin is breathing heavily.
Luger lands a glancing blow to the side of Karelin's head.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Luger here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
A lazy left from Luger finds it's target.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Luger. Karelin shrugs it off though.
Decent striking displayed by Luger there.
Luger lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Luger throws a good cross that connects.
Luger cracks Karelin with a right hand to the side of the head.
Nice jab there from Luger.

Luger connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.


Karelin is rocked!
Luger throws a monster overhand right that drops Karelin! Luger follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shane Luger!
