The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yamamoto rushes Perez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Perez tightens his grip and picks Yamamoto up, before dumping him to the ground. Yamamoto manages to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Perez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Yamamoto manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Perez has Yamamoto in his guard.

Yamamoto is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Perez is just riding it out for now. Yamamoto eventually gives up the hold.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close round but Shinya Yamamoto will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Perez is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Yamamoto has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Yamamoto!

Perez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Yamamoto stacks Perez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Yamamoto!
